Thinking about professional clothing is a daunting task. Purchasing it is an even bigger task. You have to find the perfect length, the perfect cinch, the perfect color, the perfect match. There’s obviously a reason why many women only have one dress suit, it’s hard to find the perfect piece. That’s why the perfect dress suit is the perfect investment piece. It’s also very important to purchase a good suit. If you’re only going to have one, then you need to have a good one!

Thinking about this professional fashion icon (and investment) is on my mind as I begin another search for the perfect job. I have a classic Anne Klein suit tucked about in my closet, in all its black glory, but I wonder…what will my next employer be like? Will I need to keep my fashion on the down low, very casual? Or will I need to pump up the volume and invest in some great business suits? Whatever the future brings, I have one suit on my mind, this Rebecca Taylor Pretty in Punk Jacket and Racy Lacy Pencil Skirt.
It’s stunning. It’s obviously a suit to wear after you’re in the door and sure that your boss will not fire you for wearing ruffles and frills. Nonetheless, it’s fab. The jacket is collarless tweed that nicely cinches in at the waist and includes some great black piping detail. It is $390. The skirt is above the knee (21 inches) and includes lacy scallops that peek below the hem. The skirt is $250. So in love. Next step, find the job that will allow me to wear the suit.
