Jewelry Designer: Simone Walsh

Australian jewelry designer and metalsmith, Simone Walsh is one of my favorite indie jewelry designers.  I’ve her profiled her work a couple of times now on Splendicity and each new collection fills me with jewelry lust :-)

Simone Walsh works primarily with sterling silver and gold to create her unique line of jewelry.  You’ll find pieced work (hand cut with a very fine saw), engraved, hammered techniques – just to name a few.

“These days I rarely aim for perfection in my jewellery, instead preferring for people to be able to see at least a little bit evidence of my having worked on it – with the hope that this will be something they treasure. It also perhaps shows some influence from the Japanese concept of wabi sabi, in which imperfection is seen as one of the highest forms of beauty.”

Some of my favorite pieces from her gallery site include:

simone-walsh-victorian-pendant

Victorian etched “Leaves & Flowers” pendant.

simone-walsh-flowers-pendant

Five Flowers” pendant.

simone-walsh-butterfly-earrings

Butterfly Wings” earrings.
