Though many wedding traditions change of the years, one thing that stays relatively the same in the United States is white (or offwhite, ivory, etc.) wedding gowns. Though they might change in shape, style, design and fabric, most wedding gowns are generally white.
In recent years, many brides are adding a splash of color to their wedding gowns with colored lace, trim, beading and other embellishments. But how about a completely red wedding dress? Would you dare?

In China, red is the color for weddings are most other celebrations. It symbolizes happiness, good fortune and a joyous life. Most brides in China wear red wedding gowns. But in the United States, we are mostly still sticking to white.
I like the idea of a red bridal gown - it’s bold, festive and fun.
This red gown pictured is from Justin Alexander. It’s also available in Honey/Coffee. I recently saw this dress on Red Hot Brides.
It features a boned bodice in sequins, beads and Swarovski crystals. I think this dress is absolutely gorgeous. If you love red, you should really consider a red wedding dress. People will definitely remember your wedding day forever!

GASP! What a GORGEOUS dress! I personally would never have the cojones to wear it (I’m too traditional that way), but I would love to see someone rock this out. Of course, it would be particularly stunning for a holiday wedding.
*sigh*
The reds don’t match.
Red would be fine for someone who isn’t “pure” which is what the white dress stands for, virginity.
Show me a bride that is a virgin before wedding
Red is the way to go! Any other color then pure white, which is ugh — simply boring, is better.
I would wear this in a minute! It ROCKS! I wish it had been available….or something like it, more likely, when I got married. It’s AMAZING!
“Red would be fine for someone who isn’t “pure†which is what the white dress stands for, virginity.”
1) Virginity = purity? I know some virgins with horrible character.
2) That’s not what the white dress originally meant. Wealthy women started wearing white wedding dresses within the last century. Before that, women wore whatever their finest clothes were. How often can you wear a white dress? Back in the day, you had to be very rich to afford a dress you would only wear once.
White looks good on few women.
A woman should wear a dress that accentuates her natural beauty, not aspire to an artificial standard of “beauty” and “purity.”
Quite frankly, more women look good in that “little black dress.” And most women can find a shade of blue that really works with their looks.
It is time for this “white wedding” tradition to die a quiet and painless death as women stop being slaves to tradition, learn to love their unique looks, and accentuate their own beauty.
If I ever get married again I’ll go with something different, red is cool.
I was going to mention that the white dress does NOT actually signify virginity, but CB’s done that quite nicely for me.
Anyway. I do not plan to wear white when I get married.
Also, I hate this dress.
I would wear this in a heartbeat!!
I’m sure people who are more traditional may find it garish but anyone who knows my personality would think it just matches my high drama style.
Loooooove it!!!!
I actually AM wearing this dress- and I love it, it fits me perfectly:)
i have just bought this dress for my november wedding. it looks much better on i dnt think the pictures do it justice. have you got married yet? do you have any regrets not wearing white? im still very nervous about my choice, but all the ivory and white dresses i tried on bored me.
I wore this dress for my wedding, and boy am I glad I did! I had sooo many compliments, and my photographer said she hates photographing white/ivory dresses as they look so flat in the pictures. You can’t say that about this dress! Glad I splashed out the money on this gown, even if I did only wear it once!
I love the dress. I am having a firefighter theme wedding, and would love to sport something like this.
I agree with ather girl, a white dress is just a trend somebody made up. In other cultures brides can wear any color they want. To judge a womans carachter on the color of her dress is foolish. If I can affored this dress I would love to wear it!!!! This dress is owesome.
This was the dress I got married in, 3 years ago on Halloween. It was the most beautiful dress for an amazing wedding. I went with a red dress basically because…It’s my favorite colour and everyone knew I wasn’t exactly a virgin..and I’m proud to be me on my wedding day!
