Molten Metal: Evening Gown Runway Trends

The Fall season evening gowns have arrived on the runways, and boy do they shine in liquid silver and gold. The metallic trend seems to have moved from accessories to fabrics, and the result is blingalicious. Here are some of my favorite looks.

This stunner by Ralph Lauren literally looks as though it melted down the model’s body. I love the way the fabric pools up around the feet, enhancing its fluid grace. Unfortunately, you pretty much have to be a model to pull off a style like this, as it is as slinky as all get out.

Here’s one for the rest of us by Badgley Mischka. The gold lame fabric is so delicately draped, and I adore theway the  high points of the bust fall into a deep v. The soft pleats of the skirt created a silhouette that is forgiving if you’re a little hip-y, but not if you’re a lot.

This gunmetal grey metallic mermaid gown by Carolina Herrera has a lovely high neck that works well for top-heavy gals. Plus the volume at the bottom of the skirt will create balance with the top, and give you the perfect hourglass.
