Mom Style: My Fall List

As my birthday approaches, I’m considering the Annual Birthday Shopping Trip. Generally, at this time of year, I ask my husband for one thing–new clothes. There haven’t been many times that I’ve asked for anything else. This year, because I seem to have gotten rid of a lot of my fall clothes while pregnant last autumn (we were packing to move-everything had to go!), my list is extensive. As you know, my pieces must be child-friendly, easy to move in, and easy to put together (which tends not to be the case in my closet, because I’m an impulsive buyer.)

First, I need a new pair of Old Navy yoga pants. I managed to grab a pair that is a size too big some time back and though they fit post-pregnancy, now that I’m working out and walking more, they’re far too big. Not only are they soft and comfy but the neutral (I like gray) colours are easy to match with tops I already have. I wear them for everything from actually doing yoga to lounging with friends to going for walks.
Next, I am on the lookout for a new pair of jeans. I’m considering a pair of very attractive trouser jeans ($34.50) from Old Navy. My favourite pair is from Bongo but I purchased them a couple years ago in a thrift store, so I have no idea how to go about finding another pair. This means I’ve got to search my usual haunts (Old Navy, Wal-Mart, the mall) and maybe some new haunts (The Gap? H&M? American Eagle?) to see what I can find.
For my ultra-fashion-y item, I’m going for a sweater dress. If it’s hooded, I’ll be ecstatic. I’d love something in black, gray, or brown, but purple does suit me, so we’ll see what I come out with. A great pair of boots and some fun tights and I’ll have my fall/winter dress all sewn up. The Vitis sweater dress from Athleta is only $128.
To finish off the list, I’m hoping to round out my wardrobe with long-sleeve tops; I especially need one for layering underneath dresses, tops, and tees. The Gap’s Supersoft Crew Neck T looks very promising. I’m also hunting for that mom staple, the zip-up hoodie, and I’ve got my eye on the Watercolour Graphic Tees ($14.50) from Old Navy.
Add all these things to my newest accessories (colourful scarves, the cutest turban-style head wrap, and a feather decorated headband) and mix and match for cute mom of two.
