Mr Song Millinery – Aretha Franklin’s hat maker

January 30, 2009 by Chloe Findlay-Harder

Aretha Franklin made an impression on the fashion world with her handmade church hat at the recent  inauguration of Barack Obama.

Mr. Song Millinery, a boutique hat maker based in Detroit has said that they made Aretha Franklin’s hat as a special, one of a kind hat just for her.  You can’t buy one the identical hat, but Mr. Song makes other stunning hats.

These are hats for women who like to be noticed, who like to make an impression.  For the woman with charisma!  Here are a few picks from their Fall/Winter 2008 hat collection:

The hats aren’t available for sale online yet, but you can contact them through their website to order your own hat directly.

  1. My congratulations to Luke Song for his well deserved noteriety! His genius in hat-making has been seen and worn over the years by my mother, Martha Jean “The Queen”, legendary radio personality, who has also, been recognized for the outstanding and unique hats made by Mr. Song.
I want to also thank Luke for mentioning in the press, how important “The Queen” was in referring so many of her listening audience to him, and for the faithful support and sponsorship he gave to her beloved, and much missed, radio station, WQBH, through the years.
I saw actress, Jessica Parker, in a commercial for “Sex In The City”, with one of the hats I bought from Mr. Song’s. However, Luke took mine and added his touch to that hat, making it, not only a standout, but UNIQUE…Swarovski crystals never looked so good!
Perhaps in the future, Mr Song can design a “The Queen’s” line for the Queen Mum in England. One thing about it, there will be nothing like it anywhere…
Long Live The Queen and I will always keep a (Mr) Song in my heart! God Bless You… I Love you, Luke~
