You’ve heard the old saying, “Don’t wear white after Labor Day.” Well my dear fashionistas, that old fuddy duddy fashion rule does not hold true any longer! There’s something to be said about a crisp white handbag during the dreary Fall and Winter seasons.
As you know there are different shades of white – off white, ivory, cream, eggshell but a stark white bag looks fresh and new time and time again no matter what the season. A white bag evokes a sort of freshness, like fresh fallen snow. I pulled together a simple yet chic monochromatic outfit using a gorgeous white bag as the accent colour.

One of the best dresses to pick up during the Fall and Winter season is a sleek sweater dress much like this Banana Republic Dolman Sweater Dress ($98). The dolman sleeves keep it from looking too boring and hides less than perfectly sculpted arms.
Since the weather might be a bit chilly, layer another wardrobe staple, a black long sleeved tee like this Forever 21 Thermal L/S Knit Top ($6.50). The price point on this top is ridiculous so definitely stock up on this one!
You can go without tights for this look but in keeping with the monochromatic theme, wear these Banana Republic Solid Opaque Tights ($15) in black to keep the chill away. Next, these black leather Nine West Raquell Knee High Boots ($179) are perfection. Another option would be to wear a pair of cute ankle boots or black platform heels.
On to the accessories! This is where we’ll have the most fun. After putting on the basic outfit, you can throw on pretty much any kind and colour of accessory possible. I chose to go with silver to play off the grey in the sweater dress and white pearls to warm up the look.
Since florals are big this season, this lovely Forever 21 Lacquer Floral Pearl Bracelet ($6.80) would make a wonderful statement bracelet. Another fun accessory, to be worn on the opposite arm, is this pretty Banana Republic Jewel Flower Ring ($35).
Next, take a long pearl necklace such as this lovely Judith Jack 7mm Long Pearl Necklace ($175) and layer it over another similar pearl necklace like this Majorica Pearl Station 8mm Necklace ($120). Instant glam! However, if you choose to wear the necklaces, I’d probably go with out the ring as it might look too busy.
An alternative to the layered pearl necklaces, is to wear a pretty white, grey and black scarf like this Forever 21 Metallic Striped Scarf ($7.80). It’ll keep you warm and play off the colour scheme. And lastly, a crisp white Olivia Harris Patch East/West Satchel (on sale $319.99) to complete the look.
This outfit would be something that can be worn to the office and out and about. One of the top jewelry staples to have is a strand of pearls, especially one long enough to be worn looped twice or thrice and layered. The look is modern and sophisticated.
