Perfume of the Day: Un Jardin apres la Mousson (Hermes)

I tried this before Chandler Burr’s scathing, disingenuous review of Un Jardin Apres la Mousson. I do not find it anywhere as bad as he did, I like the combination of clean, watery floral with ginger, vetiver, coriander and “cool spices”. The “melon” notes do confuse me a bit but I find that they burn off after about 15 minutes.
His gripe was with the use of the scent molecule methyl dihydrojasmonate. Apparently since the perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena has made “better” perfumes before, this one is just garbage? Uh, anyway. I found it lovely and wearable in the summer heat. Somewhat unisex, but you need to like jasmine. Also be sure not to miss The Scented Salamander’s exhaustively researched essay on this scent.
