Perfumes for Relaxing?

sleepy.jpgMarilyn Monroe’s famous quip about wearing Chanel no. 5 (and only Chanel no.5) to bed seems to be more appropriate now that we’re in the dog days of summer.  But I started thinking – what if you could wear a perfume to bed that would actually affect the quality or quantity of your sleep?  Like the poppies in the Wizard of Oz, can a smell make you sleepier or have interesting dreams?   I’ve been told to put a few drops of lavender essential oil on my pillow before bed, and even baby bath has lavender to promote tranquility.  I’m going to be testing some perfumes this week that are described as “scents of dreams” and designed to promote relaxation.  After all the stress of buying a house, moving, and trying to get settled in….I need some relaxation!  Calgon, take me away!

If your entertaining your favorite boy, you might consider scenting the place with Pumpkin Pie. At least that’s what the folks at the smell and taste institute have found.
