Recently, fellow Splendicity blogger Star Stevenson wrote about the NARS Holiday 2009 Collection. I have long been a fan of NARS, but haven’t experimented much with their eye color outside their powder eye shadow. However when I saw the fabulous pencils in the holiday collection like Goddess (light champagne gold) and Aigle Noir (dark smokey green), I knew it was time to give them a try.

Shadow pencils from other cosmetics companies are a mixed bag… some are amazing, while most are a little too hard and not smooth enough for eyeshadow. With the NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencils, I was pleasantly surprised.
These jumbo pencils go on silky smooth and creamy, allowing for easy application and seamless blending. They are portable and versatile — you can use the pencils as liner or as shadow. Though NARS recommends these pencils as an “ideal base for layering with powder eyeshadow,” I actually liked to use them on their own. The color will certainly be more intense if you blend it with powder, but I think there is enough pigment in these pencils — particularly the Aigle Noir, which is a blackish green.
Priced at $24.00 each, you can find the Soft Touch Shadow Pencils online at NARSCosmetics.com, Sephora and other retailers.
