Dear Splendicity Wedding Channel readers, I come to you with a query. Usually, I have no problem figuring out how I feel about a dress. I’m just kind of a thumbs up/thumbs down kind of girl. But the gown below has me feeling a little flummoxed. Having purchased my own gown from J. Crew, I have a semi-emotional attachment to the line, and usually think their clean, simple designs are spot on.

J. Crew Silk Dupioni Rosette DressBut this Silk Dupioni Rosette Gown, I’m just not sure about. I absolutely adore the material. The sheen of the dupioni is rich and lustrous, and the rosettes, in and of themselves, are lovely. But I’m not really sure I like them covering the entirety of a full-length gown. I think that, maybe, the rosettes take away from the sleek design of the gown, but on the other hand, there is something delicate and feminine about them that I find irresistible.

Maybe it’s the thickness that the rosettes add to the dress? I wish that I could see the dress on someone besides a model, so that I could figure out whether or not it flatters the average Jane or no. So, if anyone out there has a real life picture of this gown, I would dearly love to see it. Available for $3,000 from J. Crew.
