Sky-high platforms & playful embellishments

Heavily embellished shoes are popping up all over the runways during Milan Fashion Week.

Dsquared2 presented shoes that seem to have their own jewelry – complete with rhinestones, chains and beaded “necklaces”:

Dsquared2 also had fun with leopard print:

I have to admit, I do like the contrast between the animal print and the bold sky blue piping…

At first glance, I thought that Dolce & Gabbana had accented their platform wedges with buttons (very Coraline), but I took a close look and discovered that the shoes are covered with embroidery and little fabric circles:

And then I took another look.

Those are fabric ruffles down the back of the model’s tights.

Satin ruffles, to be precise.

Can you imagine trying to keep those straight?  You’d look like you had a fish fin running down the back of your leg!
