I don’t know about y’all, but I’m a total sucker for a big embellished belt buckle. By embellished I don’t mean covered with rhinestones or sparkles or anything like that, I mean a good old-fashioned buckle engraved cowboy style or enhanced with funky pictures, or both. I scour all my local thrift stores looking for vintage finds. It never really occurred to me that there might be a new designer out there making the old styles that I love.
And then I found The Urge To Adorn. They use found photographs to decorated beautiful 100% pewter buckles designed exclusively for them. I particularly love this South Pacific buckle, which boasts the portrait of a brown eyed island beauty. I would wear this on a tooled leather belt slung low on denim cutoffs, a simple tank, and moccasins or some studded suede sandals. Or, for winter with some cowboy boots and cords. Either way, it will add a little touch of honky tonk to your wardrobe. Available for $98 from Smashing Darling.
