Take My Daughter To Work Day – With A Designer Handbag On Her Arm

Over at the Business Channel, we are having a “take your son/daughter to work day” and having our children blog post about the life as a child of a freelancer or a work-at-homer. Some of the posts have turned up to be quite interesting, but I’m quite excited about my daughter’s post. You’ll see why.

Saturday, I went shopping for my long awaited Dolce & Gabanna handbag (yay!) and was quite pleased when I got home and admired it for hours and hours. Really…not kidding. Anyway, my daughter walked into the room while I was whispering sweet nothings to my bag and commented on how pretty it was and asked if I had gotten her one. I gasped! This, coming from a child who has shown NO interest or unnatural characteristics (much like mom) in designer handbags. I mean none. She has never hinted or even asked to have my old ones. I have previously thought about having the child examined, but decided against it when my husband said that having that done would be unnatural as well. Anyway, she asked if she could get a designer handbag too. And again, after I closed my mouth, I asked if she wanted a Dolce & Gabanna, like mom. Of course I held my breath because these bags are incredibly expensive. But, she said no. She knew what she wanted and it wasn’t a Dolce & Gabanna. She wanted a Coach bag. Isn’t that cute! And, how appropriate for her as a “newbie” and as her first designer bag.
I’m pretty proud of my daughter for making such an important life decision. The coffers are open again and the mad savings have begun. This my friends is why I blog. I love the designer handbag life and now am even more happy that my daughter is following in my footsteps.
Oh, and what about my long-awaited Dolce & Gabanna? Well, I will be making a post about it later on, complete with pictures and poses. It will be a treat! Be sure to check in often to take a look.
And, what about the Business Channel’s take your kid to work day? Well, my daughter actually wrote a post about the Jonas Brothers and her work-at-home mom (go figure), but of course I’m having her to re-write it and talk about her journey to the designer handbag Coach life.
After all, can’t have the kid straying away from important issues, now can I?
