Three More Summer Wedding Trends!

In the world of weddings, like everywhere else, things go in and out of style. Some things, like sticking to the old adage, “Something borrowed, something blue…” always stay the same, but other things, like dress styles, decor trends, and food choices change as often as do other fashions. Here are some summer trends that are on the rise.
The first is using parasols or umbrellas as decorations and favors. No, I am not just putting this here because I used parasols in my wedding. I have been seeing these things everywhere! I have seen ornate decorated umbrellas with 8 foot handles used to line aisles, mini-parasols planted in trees with lights behind them, and, of course, they can also be used as favors. Or you know, you could use them for the things that umbrellas and parasols are usually used for, keeping the rain and sun off. I like them, because unlike so many favors and decorations, they are actually useful, and can be used again. Viva la green chic!
Okay, so sushi can scarcely be called a “new” trend, but in the world of weddings, it actually is quite new. It is only recently that raw fish has become accepted amongst non-urbanites in America, so a lot of couples have opted away from sushi in the past. Plus, raw fish needs to be handled and stored in controlled conditions, and a lot of caterers didn’t want to deal with those conditions until lately. At my wedding, we served Ahi sashimi on garlic croutons, and everyone loved it!
Cupcakes! Who doesn’t love them? No one! So, why shouldn’t you use them for your wedding. A lot of people thing they aren’t “formal” enough for a wedding, but personally, formal isn’t what I look for in food. There are all kinds of ways that cupcakes can be arranged and decorated to suit your needs, and as a bonus, they come in their own delightful, self-contained, single-serving package. What else could you ask for?
