Trend Thursday – 5 Different Newsboy Caps

Hey everyone! This week’s Trend Thursday profiles one of my personal favorites: the newsboy cap! You might here this hat also referred to as a Baker Boy, Apple Cap, Eight Panel, Jay Gatsby, Fisherman’s Cap and Lundberg Stetson. Traditionally, these hats were seen on boys and men in Europe and the U.S. during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but now even the females are loving this modern and and trendy fashion statement.

I’ll be showing you five different styles that you can look for when dealing with the newsboy.

This Kangol Tweed Spitfire Newsboy Cap is designed in Great Britain and made in China. It’s got the Kangol logo on the left side and a button on the top.  It’s made with soft mixed wool twill fibers and has polyester lining. The color is great and I think the plaid design and puffy crown make it that much cuter. You can order this for $49.99 at DadsHats.com

On the right we’ve got this Navy Newsboy Fashion Hat. Similarly to the Spitfire Newsboy above, this cap has a button on  the top. However, it differs with it’s slouchy crown. The cap is highlighted by it’s flirty and eye-catching bow. The colors play with the eyes a bit, which is great since the rest of the hat is just a basic navy blue. Balance is good! If you’re looking for a more mature or basic look, try out this Wool Felt Cabbie Cap. It is made of 100% wool, and can actually be worn by both men and women.

With the crown measuring in at 4 inches deep and a bill of 2 inches long, this cap is warm, soft and comfortable. The hat features a nice little brass button and hat band. Available colors include brown, olive, grey, black and camel (above) for a price of $22.99 at e4hats.

Looking for something a bit more laid back? I present you with this Hailey Hats Crocheted Newsboy Cap. This cap also has a slouchy crown and a pom-pom like button at the top.

The mixed color is a lot of fun. I can totally see someone rocking this newsboy cap with bell-bottom pants and a tie dye t-shirt. Order this online at Overstock for $19.99.

Now, on the right we have a more classic newsboy style, which is more accurate to what you would see in the older times. This is the NYH Oliver Tweed Spitfire Cap. Like the camel colored Cabbie Cap, this also works for men and women. It’s actually on sale right now at Hats in the Belfry. Original cost was $38, but right now you can get it for $29.50.
