Tween Bags: What to do?

OK, folks, I’m in a quandry. My soon to be sixth-grader, just turned 11 today, wants a handbag. The thing is, is that she just doesn’t know what kind she wants and I’ve been stressing over it too, right with her.. I’ve offered her the lines I love so much: Dooney, Coach, Fendi, etc. Even relatives have offered her some purses as well. No dice. She doesn’t seem to know what she wants.

My question is: Should you even consider getting a handbag for a tween?

I mean, my tween is a little different than most others – or maybe she isn’t. She wants like the REAL Dooney & Bourke handbags that cost upwards of $300. Although she is mature and responsible and all, it’s the other kids at school that I worry about taking her expensive bag. The thing is, she’s an obvious DIT (Diva-In-Training), and I’d hate to squash her love for all things luxurious, but how do I do that and keep a positive bank balance?

Anybody?
