What to Wear on Valentine’s Day: Fashion Tips

I’ve searched all over the web for Valentine’s Day style advice, and here’s what the experts had to say…

1. From the girls at I Am Fashion regarding daytime dates:  Dressing flirty and casual is the theme here. We suggest matching a simple camisole with a shrug. Jeans are sexy enough without being overwhelming, such as Blue Cult jeans. The bag must be cute, and should not be the ones you usually go shopping in.

2. From the Queer Eye for the Straight Girl cast on About.com:  use a light foundation for overall coverage and couple pale pink lips and cheeks with light grays or browns around the eyes.

3. From Nicole Rendler of Torch:  You start out at Navy Pier, take a carriage ride down Michigan Avenue, and end up at a night club. How do you choose an outfit appropriate for all three? Layers. Layering allows for versatility and for an outfit to be changed to be venue appropriate with a quick addition or subtraction.

4. The experts at EHow.com suggest going through your closet and pulling out everything red, trying them on, then choosing an existing piece to accessorize, or to purchase other pieces of clothing to compliment.

5.  From Me:  If you’re single, plan a girls only day, and do something fun with your single friends.

Single or taken–it doesn’t matter.  Look great, and have fun doing it.  Here are some dresses that would make a perfect early valentine’s gift to yourself…

For the sexy siren look, try this slinky dress from Victoria’s Secret:

Love the hearts on this cute Betsey Johnson dress at edressme:

Also from edressme is this Lia Kes dress.  It has a fun/funky vibe to it:

Nordstrom always comes through with a classically elegant style, and they do so once again with this Donna Ricco dress:

This little red dress is available at a discount at overstock.com.  I especially like the circular neckline:

Valentine clothes don’t necessarily have to be pink and red, as seen in this BCBG Max Azria dress at Lord & Taylor, which is frilly and romantic in an understated way:

Color block dresses are very *in* right now.  Pick this one up at Charlotte Russe for less than $25!:

This sweet and feminine Spring eyelet dress is also under $25 at Forever 21:
