Whatever happened to the traditional veil?

I loved Lisa’s post earlier in the week about alternative bridal headgear, and it got me thinking. There’s a lot out there for the “modern” bride, the “retro” bride, and the “boho” bride, but what about ladies who are just plain old-fashioned? What happened to those densely layered, frothy veils that women used to wear? You know, the kind worn over the face until it was time to kiss the bride? I rarely see them around. Maybe there just isn’t much demand out there, but personally, I think there’s something sweet about a super traditional veil.
This totally traditional number by Wedding Path has layers of two lengths. This is not just for looks, it’s so you can pull a few layers over your face, and still have a nice thick veil in back. The lace edging on the top layer is so delicate and elegant. And even if you aren’t a super traditional bride, I think this one would work with a very simple gown, or even something Edwardian. Available for $89 from Wedding Path.
