I give a peace sign.
I work in prison, so I hope I have some influence on criminal thinking, at least in my state. If I can prevent an act of violence by helping a crimanal stop and think, I’ve done some good.
I try to smile and say hello to people on the street more!
I’m a teacher. I’m making the world a better place everyday by educating children.
Jobs are important for peace. I am just starting my first job after H.S. graduation but I want to be self employed. I want to create more jobs for more people throughout my career.
I work as an ELL tutor, with students speaking many different languages. I think in my own small way that I am helping the world be more peaceful. We all smile in the same language. Thanks for this opportunity!
I try to do random acts of kindness.
I speak to everyone whether I know them
or not.A kind word or gesture goes a long
way!
I practice patience and courtesy every minute of my life, regardless of where I am or who I’m with. It’s a challenging goal, but the rewards are great. Opening a door for an elderly woman and her acting so pampered about it (what’s up with that anyway…why should she be so surprised?); smiling when strangers give me unsolicited advice (no comment); signaling when I’m letting someone enter my lane when driving, or giving them the right of way (isn’t this “the law ” anyway?); recognizing that rude people in public are just trying to assert their power because somehow, for whatever reason, they don’t feel they have it and need to be rude to others in order to feel like they are a survivor (I often just stay home rather than deal with this on a daily basis).
There are so many more examples, but it always just basically comes down to this, “Do unto others as you would have them do onto you.”
I’m not a religious person…just an humane and peaceful human.
I have taught my children to be caring, giving individuals. And the whole family does many community service projects, and just helps where help is needed
i am an israeli and i know we all need peace. i teach my kids every day to be extra kind to someone..i feed the homeless guy in my neighborhood and last week my daughter (17) got harassed by 4 young men and this wonderful homeless men came to her rescue out of no were and walked her home..when i came out of my house i wanted to thank him and his answer was “finally i could do something small for you my kind friend”…well this shows you kindness works…
My way of improving the world is treating everyone as I would like to be treated. I say thank you alot! I also address everyone as mam or sir.
the contest might be over but i want to state what i do for peace anyway:
i rescue animals. foster dogs, care for injured one that get struck by cars, help lost ones find their owners. People can have a very deep and loving relationship with a pet. Pets help calm and restore peace to people. They help with the blind, sniff out bombs, and find people who are trapped. By helping them, they help us in return. Nature is wonderful.
