Word is Bond: testing the new Saks Fifth Avenue perfume & cologne by Bond NYC

saksfifthbond9.jpgI love the idea behind Bond NYC’s line of perfumes – each inspired by a particular neighborhood or landmark in New York City. The perfume collection has really grown to be something quite awesome, and recently Bond launched a signature perfume and cologne for Saks Fifth Avenue. Amazingly, here in Richmond we have our own (tiny) Saks, and I spent a few lovely minutes chatting with the mistress of the perfume counter and testing some new scents.

First, I tried what I had come for: Saks Fifth Avenue for her. I got…A lot of gardenia. Basically, your average joe on the street couldn’t distinguish this perfume from Marc Jacobs. To me, it seemed a touch sweeter. That said, if you’re a gardenia/white floral freak, it’ll be something you should try.

The cologne offering was less…”commercial”, let’s say. It’s a more grownup version of Cool Water. I didn’t dislike it, though. It is described as: Sicilian bergamot to keep you extra cool, and followed by cardamom, amber, and cedarwood for a cool finish and sexy warmth.

I think the winner of the night was really Acqua di Parma’s Colonia, and Fire Island. Something in me must be longing for the beach that I never visited as a child…..

I am disappointed about the white floral thing, since my skin sadly rejects both gardenia and tuberose. But, these black & white bottles are so very cool, and the best bottles Bond has done, imo. Thanks for your review!
