Dolce & Gabbana debuted their makeup collection at Milan Fashion Week, but could anyone have imagined the chaos that would ensue once U.S. beauty lovers received word that the line would soon be available on North American shores? The deep red classic creme Dahlia lipstick premiered on the runway at Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2010 and now, a week away from the official Saks Fifth Avenue on-counter date of April 24…

There is a wait list. Wow, people really love their red lipstick!

Dolce & Gabbana The Makup will be available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City – with plans to expand to Saks Fifth Avenue Beverly Hills and Saks.com by mid-May.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana translated 20 years of fashion into their first makeup collection, pulling colors and influences directly from their runway collections and many inspirations over the years. The designers worked with renowned makeup artist, Pat McGrath to help realize their vision; the result is a multi-faceted collection suited to the natural femininity and sensuality a woman aims to capture. Dahlia is one of twenty-seven shades in the Classic Cream Lipstick range that is reminiscent of the inherent glamour of the 1950s with a delicate fragrance, and velvet, moisturizing texture.

I have to say, Dahlia is a lovely color of red…not too orange-y and of course ensconced in all kinds of decadent Dolce & Gabbana branding.

I think this might just be the perfect Mother’s Day beauty indulgence for saying “Thanks, Mom.” right here. Good thing for me that Saks.com ships to Canada!

The lipstick retails for $30 each.
