Would You Wear a Short Wedding Dress?

A friend of mine is considering wearing a short dress for her wedding. The one that she has selected is from the Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection.
This short wedding dress (style PL217) features a fantastic feathered skirt that makes it really special. It’s very unique, though not a traditional wedding gown at all.

What do you think about short wedding dresses in general and this dress in particular? Would you wear a short dress for your wedding? Is it more practical? Leave your comments here and let us know.

hi Kori,
I am considering this particular dress to wear to my wedding as well. I have tried on dozens and dozens of long, traditional gowns and none of them felt right. I am relatively short (5,3″) and petite, and I looked like I was swimming in the traditional gowns. I tried on this dress just for fun and fell in love with it. So did my Mom! It is so comfortable and easy to move around it, I know I’ll be able to dance and move around at my wedding with ease, plus I felt like I was wearing the dress, not like the dress was wearing me.
I’m having a court wedding, and then having a big “wedding” with all my friends and family in my hometown a few months later, and I thought I could wear this dress to both. I would get a matching cropped jacket and a short veil to wear in the church.
I’m interested to hear if your friend made a decision on the dress and what kind of feedback you got about this. I love it, I just hope my fiance (and his family) do too!
I agree. I think short dresses are great for short ladies. I felt the exact same way when I was trying on dresses—I was enveloped in the fabric and it overshadowed me. A tiny dress is way more flattering—for my body type, at least.
I love the short dress. If I ever get married again, I’m definitely doing the short dress.
