Eva Longoria’s jumpsuit: Hot or not?

Eva Longoria may have more money than your average person does, what with being a celebrity and all. Still, she has worn this purple Gerard Darel jumpsuit at least twice that we know of. Seeing a person with millions of dollars floating around wearing something in public more than once is always notable.

The first time she was seen in this jumpsuit, she wore it with a skinny belt. Most recently, she was was spotted wearing it while leaving the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and this time she wore a wide black leather belt. Regardless of what she used to cinch her waist, the bigger question is this:

I’m going to admit to a bias right off the bat – I hate jumpsuits. No matter how pretty the print might be, no matter what the designer name attached to it is, to me a jumpsuit is ugly. First of all, on an adult they remind me of an inmate’s outfit. If Eva had chosen this in orange she’d fit right in at the nearest penitentiary.

Second, if I can get past the prisonwear chic, the next thing I think of is young children. I dressed both my daughters in various jumpsuits. They were each under the age of three at the time. Not a look I associate with upstanding citizens who are in their adult years.

Third, I just think it’s ridiculously impractical. What do you do if you need to pee? You end up having to undo the entire thing and then pulling it all down just to sit on the toilet. If you also consider this dilemma with the general state of public bathrooms, it just doesn’t seem very hygienic either; do you want to worry about your outfit accidentally dragging onto the floor right in front of the toilet?

So unfortunately, as much as I love Eva’s style 95% of the time I have to vote that no, this jumpsuit is definitely Not Hot.

Rihanna has denim vest style

Although Rihanna is well-known for her music, she’s arguably even more famous for her wardrobe. Let’s be honest, everyone seems to keep an eye on her when she’s out just to see what she’s wearing.

The reason for that is that Rihanna is pretty much fearless in her fashion choices, wearing everything quasi-bondage style clothing to hoots that use brass knuckles for heels. Of course, your average person might not feel as free to take such huge style risks which is why it’s nice to sometimes see her in something the rest of us can wear too, like the denim vest pictured above.

Rihanna’s wearing the RVCA grateful acid wash vest which retails for about $176. However, if you’re looking for a nearly identical look you can try out the Divine Right of Denim Western Vest. It’s acid wash, but this isn’t the tacky acid wash some of us remember from the 80s and 90s. Referred to as “starburst wash” it creates a fabulous worn look and this particular vest also has some studs along the collar and pockets for an extra edge without going overboard.

Although the vest is currently not available online, you can purchase it at the Macy’s closest to you for $70.

Christina Aguilera’s spooky skeleton tee!

This past Halloween, Christina Aguilera was seen taking her son out trick-or-treating, and the duo dressed up as matching skeletons. It was adorable!

However, while skeletons are not often associated with casual wear outside of Halloween, there’s really no reason why you can’t embrace the macabre if you have the urge. Why not wear a skeleton shirt just like Christina does?

Paired with some jeans, it could be a fun shirt to wear if you don’t take yourself too seriously!

If you want to keep warm, I found this great black hoodie with a skeleton printed on it, right down to the arms and hands. I know this isn’t something everyone would wear but I fully confess to being a little quirky (yes, we’ll be nice and call it quirky, not strange or crazy…) and I would absolutely go out in this.

Emmy Rossum’s brown suede bag

Emmy Rossum stopped to chat on her cell phone for a minute and as a result we got a really good look at her gorgeous brown suede bag. That, if I may say so, is one fine handbag!

Emmy is carrying the Gerard Darel ‘Besace Pom’ bag, a new tote in the line. It’s absolutely fabulous and I think that between the style of it and the size – you can fit all your necessities in there! – it just might be my current favorite celebrity tote!

Girls’ version of Brad Pitt’s beanie

Anyone who’s a Brad Pitt fan knows that the hunky actor has been very partial to hats of all sorts for quite some time. For awhile he wore newsboy caps but more recently he’s switched allegiance and has been spotted sporting a knit beanie on his outings.

Brad is so fond of his hat that he wore it to Tokyo, Japan while promoting the premiere of Inglourious Basterds over there. It’s a great casual look and I have to admit that while I love to see him without it, I do like the beanie quite a bit.

For girls a knit hat can be a lifesaver. Not only will it keep your head warm in colder months (it’s practically a necessity for me up here in Canada!), it can be a stylish addition to your outfit on days when you find yourself having a bit of a bad hair day. And heck, if someone like Brad Pitt can wear it to an event like a movie premiere, you can certainly get away with it for running errands!

The good old Gap sells a cute cable-knit hat that you can purchase in black like Brad or in grey, blue, or red if you prefer. While you can get it fitted to your head, buying it a size larger will give you that draping effect like Brad has. You can get it over here for $19.50.

Olivia Wilde in nude platforms

Over the weekend, Olivia Wilde – well-known as “13″ on House – attended the red carpet premiere of Precious at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.

Olivia wore a beautiful and classy cream-colored dress that was beyond elegant. To set it off, she also wore a pair of nude platforms in patent leather and carried a clutch to match.

Leighton Meester’s “Gossip”-worthy coat

Although most Gossip Girl fans watch for the never-ending drama on the show, a vast majority of viewers would probably also admit to watching just to see the incredible fashion that waltzes across their TV screen.

Leighton Meester was wearing a beautiful plaid coat while filming a scene as Blair Waldorf in Central Park. The coat used a blend of different shades of grey and was just absolutely stunning. I love the way it’s belted so casually.

Remember back in 2001 when Christina Aguilera teamed up with Pink, Mya, and Lil Kim to do “Moulin Rouge”? It was pretty amazing and the girls went all out to get the old-fashioned burlesque look just right.

While Christina’s makeup is certainly not something the average person would copy on a day to day basis (it might not go over well at the office is what I’m saying!) I thought that with Halloween being here and everyone dressing up for parties and outings, this would be a good time for a brilliant makeup tutorial.

Hilary Duff’s giant bag

Earlier this week, Hilary Duff was seen leaving the Ken Paves Salon (FYI – that’s Jessica Simpson’s hairdresser and BFF) looking as fabulous as you would expect after finishing up at a high-end West Hollywood salon.

Not only did Hilary’s hair look amazing, not only was her outfit perfect – loving those boots! – but check out her enormous bag! Every once in awhile I would buy myself one of those teeny tiny little purses, the cute ones that are supposed to inspire you to just carry your debit/credit card and a lipstick. Without fail I would use it a handful of times only to have it collecting dust after that because the truth is I need a big bag. I just carry too much stuff.

Emily Blunt’s grey messenger bag

I love a good bag. Seriously. These days I mostly carry my wallet in my camera bag since said bag is enormous, but I still love to look at the bags celebrities have hanging off their shoulder. In fact, no matter how great an outfit is, the purse is usually the first thing I notice.

Emily Blunt arrived on set the other day for her new movie The Adjustment Bureau, ready to change in her trailer and while her outfit was fairly non-descript, her messenger bag was fantastic.

In a soft grey shade, that’s a bag that would go well with a great deal of colors so pretty much any casual clothing would be offset nicely if you decided to carry your necessities in this Gerard Darel “Flat Jack” bag.
