Kate Beckinsale attended the Museum of Contemporary Arts gala over the weekend and dressed the part of a woman checking out fine art. She wore a shiny green one-shoulder gown and carried her essentials in a tiny little black clutch.

A clutch is the perfect way to carry a bit of cash (or a credit card), some lip gloss, and your keys without having to lug around a huge purse. Big handbags are awesome but they’d look totally out of place with a fancy gown. Kate chose the Jenny Packham “Baguette” clutch for her evening at the museum.

I love a good bag. Seriously. These days I mostly carry my wallet in my camera bag since said bag is enormous, but I still love to look at the bags celebrities have hanging off their shoulder. In fact, no matter how great an outfit is, the purse is usually the first thing I notice.

Emily Blunt arrived on set the other day for her new movie The Adjustment Bureau, ready to change in her trailer and while her outfit was fairly non-descript, her messenger bag was fantastic.

In a soft grey shade, that’s a bag that would go well with a great deal of colors so pretty much any casual clothing would be offset nicely if you decided to carry your necessities in this Gerard Darel “Flat Jack” bag.

Kristin Cavallari was spotted grabbing a bite to eat at Madeo in Los Angeles recently – and forget the gold card, Kristin had a gold BAG with her, a metallic style from Gustto.

This particular handbag is the Gustto Rosa bag in shimmery gold, and sadly it’s not yet available for the rest of us – darn these celebrities for getting the Fall line early! However, you can mimic Kristin’s style fairly easily with Gustto’s extensive collection.

Kim Kardashian was indulging in a little bit of retail therapy last week, helping out the economy one shopping bag at a time.
