Hot or Not: Demi Lovato’s AMA dress

On Sunday, Demi Lovato hit the American Music Awards red carpet in a super cute little dress with a big, noticeable neckline.

Demi’s pink tiered cocktail dress was designed by Jenny Packham. It features a neckline that is heavily embellished with large crystals. The dress is from the Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection.

Now for the question! Hot or not? I’d love to hear your thoughts because I’m completely torn. On the one hand, the dress itself is super pretty and I like the soft pink color. That shade looks particularly good on Demi because of her dark hair, it makes a great contrast.

On the other hand, I am really not feeling the crystal neckline. It’s just too much. It’s such a delicate little cocktail dress that I find the big neckline overwhelms the whole look. Almost as though – if you can pardon my corny comparison – the neckline is screaming while the dress is just whispering. It doesn’t go together.

Olivia Wilde in nude platforms

Over the weekend, Olivia Wilde – well-known as “13″ on House – attended the red carpet premiere of Precious at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.

Olivia wore a beautiful and classy cream-colored dress that was beyond elegant. To set it off, she also wore a pair of nude platforms in patent leather and carried a clutch to match.

Olivia wore the Stuart Wietzman Stilts Sling platform heels, which are unfortunately not sold online, but I did find some similar shoes if you’d like the same shade in a beautiful pair of heels.

Marion Cotillard’s ruby red wedge shoes

Marion Cotillard is rapidly becoming one of my favorite celebrity fashionistas. The girl is gorgeous and has so much style it could just about make me cry.

Marion was in France for the premiere of Public Enemies, her new movie with (drool) Johnny Depp, and she wore a beautiful pale pink Christian Dior wrap dress. What really stole the show though was not her classy dress – it was her eye-catching ruby-red John Galliano wedge platform shoes!

Talk about channeling your inner Dorothy! If you want to spice up your summer evening, you can get a slightly tamer, but equally sparkly ruby-red shoes to skip on down the yellow brick road!

Hmmm. Did I really say “tamer”? Maybe not, right? But are those fabulous or what?! They come in black sparkle as well but I wouldn’t even bother with black – the red stands out so much more and just seems like a lot more fun.

Obviously these aren’t every day shoes (unless you too are a celebrity!) but wouldn’t these be amazing as a punch of dramatic color for an all-black outfit if you were out at a club on a warm summer evening? I know I’m sitting on my hands to keep myself from ordering them, especially since you can buy them here for only $35!

Emily Deschanel attended the closing ceremony for the 2009 Monte Carlo Television Festival in style today. She wore an exquisite rose strapless gown from Gustavo Cadile’s Fall 2009 collection.

The tulle and the tiered skirt add so much fairy-tale beauty to it, I love it!

Top Ten Ways to Look Sexy at a Red Carpet Event!

Let’s face it, most celebrities know how to work the red carpet at an event – showing off their curves and flirting with the camera. Whether you’re headed to a red carpet premiere, or a holiday party, here’s the top ten ways to look sexy when you head out to your next soiree!

Go for the messy updo.
A signature classy hairstyle for the red carpet is to go with the updo. But a slicked back bun isn’t necessarily sexy. You can add your own twist, literally, by pulling your hair up in a loose bun or ponytail with some cute tendrils pulled out. It makes you look a little less uptight while still showing off your kissable neck!
Wear diamond stud earrings.
Show off your classy jewelry, while still leaving your earlobes free for nibbles. Nobody wants to cuddle up to huge earrings.
Cover up.
You can display your curves without showing off a ton of skin. Wear something sleek and slinky – but don’t don a dress with the neckline down to your navel or the hemline up to your thigh. More is more in this instance.
Don’t go ball gown.
If you want to be a princess, go ahead and shop for that floor length gown. But if you want to be sexy, skip the layers of tulle and opt for something simple and shorter.
Pick the right undergarments.
Nobody wants to see peek-a-boo bra straps or panty lines at an event. That’s the quickest way to go un-sexy in a flash! Make sure to check yourself from every angle and every movement.
Wear heeled sandals.
Slip your feet into some strappy high heeled sandals instead of pumps. It helps show off your flirty pedicure!
Brush on some bronzer.
Give yourself a red carpet sun-kissed glow with strategically applied bronzer. Apply it lightly to all the spots where the sun naturally shines (the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin).
Add glitter!
Apply some body glitter on your shoulders and neckline. You’ll glow without getting all sweaty!
Clutch your clutch.
Take along only your essentials, and only what can fit in a small clutch. The red carpet is not a place to lug around a big tote bag!
Learn how to pose.
Starlets on the red carpet know how to pose for the camera. Turn slightly to the side with one foot in front of the other. One hand goes on the hip to pull it away from the body and show off your toned upper arm without flattening it to your body. The other arm is tucked down to the side, and slightly back. This keeps your arms away from your waist, giving you a nice hourglass figure.

In the end, dressing green can be fashionable and fun, and you can feel good about the pieces you’re wearing.

The Paris Hilton Women’s Dream Sandal features satin straps knotted together, just like Annalynne’s heels! These sandals fasten with a buckle in an adjustable slingback. I love the pale color of the shoes, which would match the dress perfectly, or accent any pair of jeans or sundress!

Miley Cyrus arrived at the Kids Choice Awards earlier this weekend looking amazing in a simple white tier floor length Sheri Bodell dress.

Miley flashed a smile on the orange carpet before heading into the event to get slimed! You can get Miley’s look below.

This stunning BCBG Max Azria lace and tulle tier gown features a sequined bodice and a beautifully layered skirt of lace and tulle.

I love the simplicity of Miley’s jewelry. She wears a triple strand white quartz chunky bracelet. I found this quartz bauble bracelet from TheStellarKitty on Etsy. At $15 each, you can easily buy several to stack them!

Miley also wears a double strand silver necklace. One of her chains has a cross, but I also found this delicate necklace at RoseArt Designs.

Kristen Stewart wore this amazing graphic-pring dress from Herve Leger by Max Azria last week.

Kristen posed on the red carpet at the Los Angeles Premiere of Adventureland held at the Mann’s Theatre Six in Hollywood, CA.

The peach blush short-sleeve minidress features variegated stripes that gave the willowy Twilight star visible curves. It retails for $1900 as part of the Spring 2009 line.

Kristen went minimal with the accessories, choosing some matching coral lipstick and a leather bracelet. She wore some black pumps with a slightly rounded pointed toe, like this pair from Fitzwell. They retail for $59 at Zappos.com and feature an almond shaped toe and 3 1/2″ heel.

The highly anticipated film Valentino: The Last Emperor premiered to a star studded audience on March 17 at the The Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

Gwyneth Paltrow (wearing the designer of course!) was one of the many who posed with Valentino on the red carpet. Gwyneth carried an alligator clutch from VBH and wore satin sandals from Roger Vivier.

I love this strapless bubble dress from Kay Unger. This LBD features a sweetheart neck with interior boning, ruching down the sides, and a fully lined interior bustier. It is currently on sale, retailing for $220.99 at Bluefly.

Although there are less expensive peep toe shoes, I like the thin strap of these Kate Spade black patent Lara pumps. I also personally prefer the low v-cut sides instead of full sides. They are on sale for $138.99 at Bluefly.
