Angelina Jolie Passes on her Style

Like mother like daughter! Angelina Jolie has been spotted many times over the past few months wearing the same black dress.

It’s a black maxi dress designed by Gerard Darel and it’s versatile because it can be worn with or without the straps giving it a slightly different look each time. Angie usually keeps it pretty casual by pairing it with comfortable flip flops.

She’s been passing on her style sense to her oldest daughter, Zahara Jolie-Pitt because the fashionable young Jolie-Pitt girl has also been seen in a tiny Gerard Darel dress of her own!

When Angelina took two of her kids shopping at a supermarket in the South of France, Zahara Jolie-Pitt was wearing the same dress in her own size. Being a fan of all things girly, Zahara opted for a pretty purple shade instead of her mom’s trademark sleek black.

Angelina Jolie’s cat’s eye makeup

Angelina Jolie is a gorgeous woman even when she’s not wearing makeup. However, her trademark look when she does wear makeup is to keep the lips simple and neutral – she has amazing lips, she doesn’t need to do much with them! – and she makes her eyes dramatic, often with “cat’s eye” liner.

This look is actually quite simple once you get the hang of it, but if it’s something you aren’t used to, you might want a bit of guidance. It’s the perfect look for evenings.

As I said, it’s not too difficult to learn, but I really think that this is the single best makeup tutorial that I’ve seen when it comes to replicating Angelina’s look. The makeup artist is insanely good and has it down to a fine art. Check it out:

Doesn’t she look spectacular? With the addition of the similar hair style it’s not hard to tell which actress she’s copying!

I went to my sister’s wedding last weekend and had the makeup woman give me a very similar look, and it was wonderful. Give it a try and let me know how it works out!

How to look like a celeb after a flight

One of the highly annoying thing about celebrities is how they always look good after a flight. Take, for example, frequent flyers like Angelina Jolie, Paris Hilton, and the entire Twilight cast; they never seem to look worn out after they fly.

When it comes to normal people, when we get off a plane, we often look tired and are showing the effects of the pressurized – and dry! – air. Meanwhile celebs look like they’ve been sitting beside their stylists the whole flight! How do they do it?

Get the post-flight celebrity look!

I found a great tutorial that a regular girl, someone just like you and me, put together on her three hour flight, demonstrating how you can do simple makeup to keep yourself looking fresh and pulled together despite being on a plane for hours on end. This is something you can do in the comfort of your own seat, as long as you don’t have an aversion to doing makeup out where people can see you.

I especially loved one of her first tips, to use a big fluffy brush to blend in your concealer. I’ve always used my ring finger to blend concealer in (ring fingers have the least amount of pressure so it’s gentle around your eyes!) but it doesn’t always blend in that well. When the girl in this makeup tutorial did it with the brush it looked so natural and seamless. I’m definitely going to try it!

If you’re travelling, a few other tips include:

Wear clothing that is loose and comfortable, and made from materials that don’t wrinkle easily. In other words, this isn’t the time to wear that silk dress you love!
Drink up! Water, I mean. While it’s nice to have a cocktail, the air in a plane is dehydrating and alcohol or caffeine will only add to that. Water will keep you hydrated and cut down on the dry skin look.
Wear comfortable shoes that aren’t constrictive. Swollen feet are not only an unattractive look, it can be dangerous on a plane!

>li>If you wear contact lenses like I do, bring a bottle of saline solution or eye drops made especially for contacts. If the air in the plane starts to irritate your lenses, the drops will keep you from getting the horrors of bloodshot eyes. In fact, eye drops would benefit anyone for the same reason, just follow the directions and don’t over-use them!

Of course, if all else fails, get yourself a pair of sunglasses, preferably the currently trendy big, round shades that celebs wear. Not only do they keep all the flashes from bothering celeb eyes when they’re being photographed, they can hide tired post-flight eyes if you don’t have the time or energy to do up your makeup!

5 Young Celebs With Classic Style

I don’t believe in blowing off celebrities (or people in general for that matter) just because they might be young. While it’s easy to hold on to the icons of Hollywood glamor – people like Marilyn Monroe, Angelica Huston, Audrey Hepburn, Veronica Lake, and other women who paved the way for style – we have to remember that they were young once too. With that in mind I’d like to give you 5 young celebs with classic style.

5. Claire Danes – Claire is often under the radar. You don’t hear too much about her when she’s not currently promoting a film, living quietly. But when you see her, it’s hard to miss her. She never stands out by wearing something overly daring or extravagant; she stands out by wearing something that is simply beautiful with clean lines that looks gorgeous on her.

4. Anne Hathaway – I love seeing pictures of Anne when she’s out on the red carpet or attending some sort of special event. Her clothing style is always a combination of classic and something new. You sort of get the feeling that if you look back at her 20 years from now, you’ll still think she looked amazing.

3. Vanessa Hudgens – Vanessa is very young still, but she’s got a great start when it comes to being a classic Hollywood beauty. Between her long dark waves and the gowns she chooses, she always looks picture perfect. She may have made some mistakes in life (those naked photos will haunt her forever, I fear), but she more than makes up for it on the red carpet and in the end people will remember her more for what she did wear than what she didn’t.

2. Katie Holmes – Here’s the interesting thing about Katie: I don’t always like what she wears. Honestly, I sometimes think she wears very strange things (though I love that dress in the picture above!). But when it comes to Katie, it still works as far as style is concerned because she wears the things that she likes, doesn’t attempt to wear something just for the shock value, and does her own thing. In that sense she almost reminds me of Diane Keaton who would show up wearing suits when everyone else was in a gown. She marches to her own style drum!

1. Angelina Jolie – I may be biased but to me Angelina is the epitome of old school Hollywood beauty. She has the long hair, the bewitching smile, the bedroom eyes, and every dress she wears ends up being spectacular on her. Even my least favorite of her dresses have still looked incredible on her in the end. She could wear a paper bag and still look stunning. That’s because she wears the clothes – the clothes never, EVER wear her. Really though, you don’t need to look exactly like Angelina to look as good as she does. The reason she always looks so perfect in front of the cameras is because of the self-confidence she has, and that’s the staple of every iconic Hollywood bombshell in the history of Tinseltown.

Angelina Jolie wears a strapless maxi dress

Angelina Jolie is one of those annoying style icons – annoying only because she always manages to look so good at all times, and she makes it look completely effortless to boot. If only it were so easy for the rest of us!

Angelina was recently spotted in the South of France buying some small pets for her kids, and picking up a few odds and ends. Despite being out running errands, Angelina managed to look both classy and comfortable by wearing a black maxi dress. It was especially eye-catching because it was also strapless.

I’d probably be too nervous to wear something strapless (especially something so long – what if I stepped on it going up a flight of stairs and inadvertently pulled it down to my hips?!), but I must say that I love the look of this maxi dress.

Emerald Earrings – Who wore them better?

Back at the Oscars earlier this year, Angelina Jolie wore a spectacular pair of emerald drop earrings to add a jolt of bold color to her long, black strapless dress. The effect worked – everyone’s eyes were drawn straight to the green jewels hanging from her ears.

Meanwhile, the other night Nicky Hilton attended the L.A. premiere of Paris, Not France (her sister’s latest project). She wore an asymmetrical little black dress, complimented by similar, if not identical emerald drop earrings.

Who do you think wore them better? I actually think they both look great – they both wore a straightforward black dress so as to not clash with the earrings, they both pulled their hair off their face, and they both wore great makeup. They’re also both really beautiful women.

I’m slightly biased towards Angelina, being that she’s my favorite actress and a constant point of blogging for me. However, I definitely think that there’s no loser in this face-off, because they both looked fantastic.

Angelina Jolie’s perfect cat’s eye makeup

Angelina Jolie is arguably the most anticipated woman on the red carpet at pretty much any event. Everyone always wants to see what – and who – she’s wearing. But beautiful dresses aside, it bears noting that Angie also always has great makeup, especially on her eyes which are usually dramatic without being over the top.

That photo is from the Golden Globes two years ago, but the look still stands. She uses it very frequently and it always seems to be in style. Luckily, it’s not too hard to pull it off either.
