Taylor Momsen’s plaid tee dress

On Gossip Girl the characters regularly take trendy fashion items and make them their own. It looks like “Gossip”-y actress Taylor Momsen has learned a few tricks along the way.

Taylor attended a Sephora event wearing what looks like a cute little red and black plaid dress. In actual fact, the shirt is meant to be worn as an oversized t-shirt! Other stars such as Shakira and Khloe Kardashian have worn the exact same shirt over jeans or leggings.

If I was going to purchase this item I would most definitely wear it over some slim fit jeans myself but I love that Taylor shrugged and decided to wear it as a dress all on its own. I’ve seen celebrities in dresses that are shorter than this, and Taylor is young enough to get away with it.

Angelina Jolie Passes on her Style

Like mother like daughter! Angelina Jolie has been spotted many times over the past few months wearing the same black dress.

It’s a black maxi dress designed by Gerard Darel and it’s versatile because it can be worn with or without the straps giving it a slightly different look each time. Angie usually keeps it pretty casual by pairing it with comfortable flip flops.

She’s been passing on her style sense to her oldest daughter, Zahara Jolie-Pitt because the fashionable young Jolie-Pitt girl has also been seen in a tiny Gerard Darel dress of her own!

When Angelina took two of her kids shopping at a supermarket in the South of France, Zahara Jolie-Pitt was wearing the same dress in her own size. Being a fan of all things girly, Zahara opted for a pretty purple shade instead of her mom’s trademark sleek black.

Britney Spears’ flowing white dress

Last week, Britney Spears was spotted shopping at Target and I was immediately struck by her beautiful dress. Usually when Britney runs errands she’s seen wearing jean shorts and tank tops, but she was dressed up very pretty this particular day.

Eschewing the “no white after Labour Day” rule, Brit wore a long, flowing white dress with some eyelet detailing which really adds more to the overall effect than a plain, solid white would have done. I really like the way the top is fitted as well.

This Ella Moss maxi dress comes very close indeed, done in a crochet lace style. It also adds some bonus interest with a little sash that ties just above the rib cage. It comes in blue as well but I honestly prefer it in white.

Stephanie Pratt’s Flirty Strapless Dress

Stephanie Pratt, of The Hills fame as well as having the misfortune of being related to reality TV’s most disillusioned person Spencer Pratt, was seen doing some filming for the show in Los Angeles last month.

Stephanie looked adorable in a flirty little strapless mini-dress complete with ruffles along the bottom. I think there’s probably an age limit to wearing this type of dress without looking ridiculous (though I’m certainly not going to start throwing numbers out there!); it’s best suited for young adults. The good news is that it can be worn for a variety of occasions, from shopping to dining to partying.

When you hear that someone is actually dating serial bachelor George Clooney you can count on one thing – she’s sure to be beautiful. His new girlfriend, Italian showgirl Elisabetta Canalis certainly fits the bill.

She showed up to support George at the Venice Film Festival and kept her look simple yet stunning in the classic little black dress. To change it up a bit, she chose a cocktail dress with an empire waist.

Empire waists are great because they allow a nice amount of comfort. I’ve always said that they’re perfect to wear if you’d like to actually eat something while you’re out because it has some extra give for tummy-filling food.

Angelina Jolie wears a strapless maxi dress

Angelina Jolie is one of those annoying style icons – annoying only because she always manages to look so good at all times, and she makes it look completely effortless to boot. If only it were so easy for the rest of us!

Angelina was recently spotted in the South of France buying some small pets for her kids, and picking up a few odds and ends. Despite being out running errands, Angelina managed to look both classy and comfortable by wearing a black maxi dress. It was especially eye-catching because it was also strapless.

I’d probably be too nervous to wear something strapless (especially something so long – what if I stepped on it going up a flight of stairs and inadvertently pulled it down to my hips?!), but I must say that I love the look of this maxi dress.

Anna Paquin in sheer Herve Leger dress

Anna Paquin showed off her curves (and her cleavage) at the NYLON party the other night, dressed to kill in a black Herve Leger cocktail dress with a sheer bodice.

She most certainly looked stunning! I like the addition of some sheer material because it gives a little something extra to your basic little black dress. On the other hand, I don’t know about you, but as much as I like Herve Leger’s designs, I am definitely not part of the demographic that can afford … well, anything of his. I’m willing to bet that odds are good you might not either so if you’re not going to pick up one of his ready-to-wear pieces – no matter how appealing it looks on Anna Paquin! – then let’s see what else we can find.

Renee Zellweger’s strapless blue dress

Renee Zellweger was absolutely radiant yesterday as she posed outside the studios before taping an appearance for Late Night With David Letterman. Renee wore a vivid blue strapless dress that carried all the sass and punch that you’d expect from something red.

I love this dress. I’m not personally comfortable with strapless dresses, mostly because I’m always afraid that I’m just one sneeze away from a wardrobe malfunction. Still, blue is my favorite color and this dress is so amazing that I may have to re-think my issues.
