If you happen to catch Emily Blunt out on the street doing her running around to talk shows or the airport, you can almost guarantee that she’s got her favorite handbag hanging off of her shoulder.

Emily had been favoring the Gerard Darel flat jack messenger bag a lot lately. To be honest I like when you see a celebrity with a “staple” piece in their wardrobe. The rest of us, the non-celebrities? We don’t have the luxury of using a different bag every time we walk out the front door, so I can identify more with a star who uses something more than just once.

It must be because it’s a messenger bag. While it doesn’t work for a red carpet event, it does work for everything else. You can carry everything you need in there, from your wallet to your phone to your favorite necessities.

Halle Berry’s big city handbag

Halle Berry was all class and style in New York City as she stepped out in a fabulous multi-colored striped sweater and a classic handbag in a great shade of gray.

The bag is thin but still roomy and can carry everything you need for a full afternoon out on the town and it’s versatile enough to take you into the evening too.

Emmy Rossum’s brown suede bag

Emmy Rossum stopped to chat on her cell phone for a minute and as a result we got a really good look at her gorgeous brown suede bag. That, if I may say so, is one fine handbag!

Emmy is carrying the Gerard Darel ‘Besace Pom’ bag, a new tote in the line. It’s absolutely fabulous and I think that between the style of it and the size – you can fit all your necessities in there! – it just might be my current favorite celebrity tote!

The Besace Pom tote comes with straps that are short enough to toss it over your shoulder or long enough to carry it across your body. Emmy’s bag is brown suede but you can also find it in charcoal grey or in leather if suede isn’t your thing.

Hilary Duff’s giant bag

Earlier this week, Hilary Duff was seen leaving the Ken Paves Salon (FYI – that’s Jessica Simpson’s hairdresser and BFF) looking as fabulous as you would expect after finishing up at a high-end West Hollywood salon.

Not only did Hilary’s hair look amazing, not only was her outfit perfect – loving those boots! – but check out her enormous bag! Every once in awhile I would buy myself one of those teeny tiny little purses, the cute ones that are supposed to inspire you to just carry your debit/credit card and a lipstick. Without fail I would use it a handful of times only to have it collecting dust after that because the truth is I need a big bag. I just carry too much stuff.

Emily Blunt’s grey messenger bag

I love a good bag. Seriously. These days I mostly carry my wallet in my camera bag since said bag is enormous, but I still love to look at the bags celebrities have hanging off their shoulder. In fact, no matter how great an outfit is, the purse is usually the first thing I notice.

Emily Blunt arrived on set the other day for her new movie The Adjustment Bureau, ready to change in her trailer and while her outfit was fairly non-descript, her messenger bag was fantastic.

In a soft grey shade, that’s a bag that would go well with a great deal of colors so pretty much any casual clothing would be offset nicely if you decided to carry your necessities in this Gerard Darel “Flat Jack” bag.

Beyonce’s Silver Hand Bag

When Beyonce arrived in South Korea before one of her concerts, it was very hard to miss her hand bag that she carried with her. Since it was a very shiny silver, it definitely stood out!

While I like the look of tiny purses, I must say that this is more the kind of hand bag for me. The color Beyonce chose is a bit loud, but the size is perfect. I need a bag that can actually carry the things I need, like a wallet, cell phone, iPod, little notepad, and all the other essentials that a woman wants with her at all times.

Tiffani Thiessen, Anne Heche love Swarovski

Both Tiffani Thiessen and Anne Heche were spotted out on the town, toting Swarovski handbags with them.

Tiffani hit up the NBC/ Universal 2009 TCA press tour All-Star Party with a vintage buttery gold colored clutch to offset her beautiful white strapless dress.

Meanwhile, Anne attended the red carpet premiere of Spread with a rectangular beaded clutch.

Both ladies chose vintage handbags so they aren’t available for purchase, but don’t worry! You can still get Tiffani and Anne’s style …

Swarovski sells a wide selection of clutch handbags. Be warned though, they aren’t compatible with all budgets – the prices aren’t for the faint of heart.

Kristin Cavallari was spotted grabbing a bite to eat at Madeo in Los Angeles recently – and forget the gold card, Kristin had a gold BAG with her, a metallic style from Gustto.

This particular handbag is the Gustto Rosa bag in shimmery gold, and sadly it’s not yet available for the rest of us – darn these celebrities for getting the Fall line early! However, you can mimic Kristin’s style fairly easily with Gustto’s extensive collection.

Britney Spears and her bright pink bag

When I first saw pictures of Britney Spears leaving McDonald’s in London, my eyes were immediately drawn to the fantastic and super-bright pink bag she was carrying with her. It’s pretty hard to miss considering the vivid color.

I fell in love with it, but the shade was just a bit too glaring for my own non-celebrity life, so I searched around to find something that would combine the great style of a hobo bag with the fun pink color, just dialed down a notch.
