Vaseline has recently released some awesome new products, my very favorite of which is their Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil.
I keep it by the tub, and use it on my wet body before I dry off. It leaves you totally smooth and very nice and moisturized without being greasy (after a very few minutes anyway). This new line of products from Vaseline have other ingredients besides their classic petroleum jelly, these are absolutely not just repackaged vaseline. They are not expensive, and totally worth a try.
I have the classic Vaseline all over my house. Tubs of it. Everywhere! There are a zillion uses for it, and did you know half of those zillion are beauty related! Here are 50 uses for Vaseline that are totally beauty related (and one very special one at the end that is not), so while you’re out trying the new and wonderful products, grab (another) tub of the classic Vaseline - I know you can put it to good use!
Here are the top 5 uses:
1. Put a coat on your eyelashes before you go to bed. Lots of people swear by this - and say it will make your lashes grow longer and thicker over time.
2. Put a coat of vaseline on your feet at night, cover them with socks and wake up to softer feet - every day!
3. Put vaseline on your elbows every day - they will stay soft!
4. Put Vaseline on your cuticles several times a day for softer and better looking cuticles every day.
5. Put Vaseline on chapped lips

I Love Vaseline. I believe it cures everything..LOL. I even use it for diaper rash on my baby.
There are a bazillion non-beauty related uses, and that is A-#1 on that list. And probably how I got so many tubs around here in the first place.
oh wow! you really posted 50! I read up to 13 and already found 4 things I wanted to try: #1, 7, 9 and 13! Holy moly!
How many of your list have you done? All? I’m intrigued
I can’t say all, because I don’t have dermatitis and am not allergic to poison ivy, but most of them, yes, I have tried. Desperation and product shortage leads to lots of experimentation, and on top of that, I am a huge DIY’er, and Vaseline and DIY go hand in hand.
Wow…I didn’t know there were that many uses for vaseline!! But I always love hearing new beauty tips! Have you heard of the Glamour One Month Makeover? I love vaseline! I mostly just use it on my lips, and to remove eye makeup. Thanks for the huge list of vaseline beauty tips!!!
42. Remove makeup stains from clothing
Wow. I’m going to try that one if need be. And definately gonna see how it works on my carpet where I have mineral pigments all mixed into. lol.
I also want to try the eyelash thing. Who can resist longer eyelashes? ooolala!
Great list! I love it.
AWESOME POST. So useful! I love cheap product “many use” cheat sheets.
Great list! I had no idea you could do this mush with a product that simple.
i dont agree with the one about the new tattoos…a few websites ive visited say that vaseline is one of the worst things to put on a new tattoo as is can lift the color…its fine once it is healed but never put it on a healing tatoo
Lard would do most of those things too; except alter the natural life-span (length) of eye-lashes which won’t happen with anything - and it’s far more natural than petroleum jelly!
I also love Vaseline! I use it for everything too! I noticed one of the uses listed is ‘massage.’ Just be careful if your massage is going to lead to anything else…petroleum jellies (like Vaseline) break down latex condoms!
Shame on you! Petroleum - based “beauty” products are killing women!!

Is it really a good moisturiser for people who get breakouts? I get them so easily, I have a reaction to almost every moisturiser I’ve tried so now I just go without and my skin gets really dry and even sore sometimes. It just seems like such a greasy product, I’d love to know if anyone can tell me its safe for me to use on my breakout-prone skin!!!
Great ideas never thought of so many uses for vaseline great artical will have to go and try some of them.
Sarah is right. Vaseline is a no-go for new tattoos. A&D Ointment is what you should use (diaper rash ointment hehe). Vaseline will indeed pull the color out a bit and the petroleum in it can damage them. The guy at the tattoo place made sure to repeat that one to me on all of my tattoos. Do NOT use vaseline. hehe Other than that though, great list!
Oh for heavens sake - it’s petroleum. Yuck
one thing about putting vaseline on eyelashes or anywhere near the eyes — you have to be VERY careful about not getting vaseline in your eyes. petroleum jelly irritates them, and can cause infections.
what an awesome post!
love it!!
xxoxoxo
i prefer not to put crude oil products on my body. gross.
Great post, but it is vaseline. Try the organic hair products-

Actually, petroleum jelly leaves a coating on the skin and doesn’t absorb.
Lanolin is a 100% natural product that is most like human skin oil and therefor readily absorbed to really really moisturize.
Until now the problem was that it had allergins.
The Natural Place has produced SuperLan which refines the lanolin and it is now hypoallergenic, safe on all skin types. It is available in two different formulations and in a lip tube.
Try it, it truly is the best! Clinically proven to reduce skin roughness by 40% within one hour of application. All this goodness while being secure in the knowledge that it is 100% natural.
I stated uses it on my face under my eyes and around my mouth and I think it does a great job and makes you face fill great. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF IT WORKS ON ANYONE ELSE.
Some great ideas I haven’t heard of before here - can’t believe you actually got 50!
Really good article. Love it.
i’ve heard that is not safe using vaseline (petroleum jelly) as a lip balm or in any way that you might some how end up swallowing it.
The petroleum goes right to the lungs causing a huge health problems.
Lets stay preety and safe
what? i’m normally not a poster but i’ve been using vaseline on my lips for the past month and so far, i’m still alive. using it as a lip balm is just fine, it’s not like you are going to put globs of it on your lips and swallow a chunk. stay safe by having common sense.
vaseline doesn’t get absorbed by the skin, it sits on top of it and stays wet so you think your skin is moisturized but it’s not.
These are too many uses of this mighty product.
try virgin coconut oil instead! it would do all of those things!
and it is not bad for you!

Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil gave me a bad rash all over my body.
Hello,
I ma suffering badly with a welting rash and I SWEAR it is from the Vaseline cocoa butter gel. I am miserable. I applied it then sat in the sun. My arms are welted, swollen, puffy, itchy and sometimes oozing if scratch too much. Tell me your reaction.
Thanks so very much,
Sue
Some really great suggestion on how to use of vaseline!
I always use Vaseline on my lips every night, and for the past week I’ve been using it on my eyelashes, and I already see a huge difference.
