Beauty Woes

Oooh I have been a crappy blogger this week month. So much on my plate and only so many hours in the day.
The psycho ex was in town this week (boyamIusedtobeing1000milesawayfromhim) and my mother had surgery yesterday on top of that, and I have to be in a relaxed state to think beautiful, ya know? I think I’ve been maybe a smidge depressed too because of my great friend Hsien leaving b5media to strike out on her own to make her own mark in the genetics world. *sniff*
It’s hard to imagine that what seems like such a superficial thing is so closely tied in to what’s inside me, but it sure is. I can’t think beauty when there is trauma going on (my own or somewhere else in the world that has captivated me), and even have a hard time when I am on the road, or otherwise preoccupied. That either makes me a pretty crummy writer or maybe just normal, who knows (rhetorical – please don’t answer…lol).
But regardless, I am getting beautiful, despite the fact that I am rapidly decending into one of those rooty folks I get so irritated seeing. I am glad at least that I have come to terms with my
grayness (unlike Hsien – heh). I need a hair color job, desperately, but at least I got my nails and toes done last night (I am really loving this Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess nail polish – the whole collection really - makes me feel like a tanned Brazillian beauty), so am not completely falling apart – yet anyway. Hair color this weekend, I must. I MUST!

I think blondes turn gray much more gradually than those of us with dark hair. I am just so glad I can’t see the back of my own head. ARGH.
Think again my friend.

People underestimate what a hair change can do to a woman’s morale. Every now and then I get that hair emergency, particularly after some kind of drastic change that I want my hair to reflect. Need an ultimate beauty makeover? Check out http://condenast.eprize.net/alluresheargenius/?affiliate_id=1d
for a chance to win a makeover by a leading makeup artist and 2 nights at a chic New York Hotel. This could definitely put an arch in our step and give your hair a much needed spin! ha haha. you know Christina, I can almost picture you narrating this in person.
and i agree with hsien, dark hair don’t turn gray (or white!) that easily compared to your blonde (which i envy by the way if i haven’t told you yet! LOL!).
however my hair isn’t as dark as most asians/filipinas so i really love coloring mine with red/burgundy that just end up as highlight anyway but still i like it.
for the record i have quite a few strands of white hair myself (still buried in the middle of the tresses, thank God!) but when they do show up in big numbers, then i may have to color me blonde. he he. that would be the day i guess!!
well, i hope you get to color your hair, let us know how it turns out.
Before and after photos! We need them before and after photos.
And, I agree. I, too, tend to avoid thinking about beauty when there are too many other things going on. In fact, I don’t remember the last time I put make-up on. And, I only started blow-drying my hair again this week, after many many months of ignoring how I look.
Anyway, hope things are easing out a bit on your end.
Glo: if you can picture me narrating, I must be doing something right.
And just because you can’t see the gray against the blonde quite as well as against dark hair – it sure doesn’t mean it isn’t there just as much. Yucko.
Shai: Thanks for stopping in! You have an excuse with your new baby – perhaps you should check out Pascalle at Hot Mama Daily!
