Bento Beauty Project: Penny and Mineral Makeup

This lady and I have been talking about skincare and makeup for quite a bit now. Being a new mum to an adorably cute not-so-little Seth now, she had decided that it’s time to pay a little bit more attention to herself and her looks. She’s not planning on a huge makeover, just going back to how she had taken care her of herself pre-Seth.

Penny used to work for a multinational company known for their processors (hehe), she had dedicated over a decade of her life to her career with only minor inclinations towards all the beauty stuff. Her approach was more practical than anything else, which is quite understandable given that her work didn’t require it plus I can only imagine the complexity of her job!

Anyway, I had mentioned to Penny and Mayi (who had dropped by that day) a little something about mineral makeup that night and it turned into a mini-makeup demo-slash-workshop (this included me lugging around my vanity kit) to two pretty ladies who were busy with a new baby and work, respectively. But due to time constraint, I was only able to do Penny’s makeup.

Penny had opted for a look that’s good for daytime. And I’m actually more comfortable with natural looking makeup so it’s relatively easier to apply one on her. As you can see, the makeup practically disappeared on the photo. Very, very light. But, of course, it’s a different matter when you see it in person.

I told her that her choosing to use mineral makeup is relatively better cuz she has a baby. On top of that, it’s very light on the skin and long-wearing so in case she has makeup on, it won’t easily get ruined. It’s also suitable for her skin that’s of normal to oily type. And since minerals don’t normally irritate the skin, she won’t have to worry about breaking out and such.

So, will I be doing Mayi’s makeup next? I’d love to! But let’s see how this pans out. And I can’t wait for Penny’s new ‘do!

Once again, I had played makeup artist. My cousin’s aunt actually asked me if I also do it for a living but I simply said that I had only tried once and I mainly do makeup on friends and family. I actually prefer it that way. Thanks for letting me publish your photo, Penny!
