The Makeup Perfect Smoothing Compact Foundation SPF 15
Shiseido The Makeup Perfect Smoothing Compact Foundation SPF 15 is formulated with micro-coating technology and a flexible smoothing powder to glide evenly over all skin, even the driest types.
I wonder if using a powder foundation will work on my skin. I’m currently using a liquid foundation and it works fine, in terms of coverage. But I still can’t help but consider using a foundation in powder. I had considered it before.
One of the main considerations in choosing a foundation (personal choice, btw) is to determine whether it will look cake-y. Instead of hiding lines, the product might define it even more. But since it says that this one from Shiseido, The Makeup Perfect Smoothing Compact Foundation SPF 15, is an ultra-fine powder, is it safe to assume that it won’t? It also says that it has this beautiful, smooth texture.
Another thing that I worry about is the ease in application. Wouldn’t the powder clump together if applied over your moisturiser or sunscreen? I’m guessing it suggests that you skip the sunscreen part since it already has SPF 15. Is that a wise move? Would you trust it, powder and all, for sun protection?
The compact foundation claims that it’ll provide medium coverage with smooth and beautiful finish. So, any of you guys have given this product a go? Do let us know. I’m utterly curious.
The case ($9) and re-fill ($30), available in 10 shades, are sold separately over at Sephora.
For now, experimenting on a powder foundation is put on hold until I get my hands on this one or find something worth looking into. I’m also open for suggestions!

I havent tried this but what I have tried is the Shu Uemura Velvet Perfecting Foundation as well as their Powder Foundation Natural Glow. I have dry skin and was afraid to use powder given my skin condition but to my surprise – both powder foundations were just PERFECT and did not look cakey at all. Also, I was concerned with the powder foundation not mixing well with my moisturizer but alas, I had no problems with it at all. With or without a moisturizing base, both powder foundations worked and did not dry my skin and made it look natural and quite flawless. I’m sure that Shiseido’s formula would be good too since both of them are Japanese brands. Try it out and do let us know what happens!
I use bare escentuals mineral foundation, and while it’s not compacted, it’s still a powder.
I’ve never had trouble with it clumping up over a moisturizer, so long as I gave the moisturizer time to sink in. I’ll usually do the moisturizer, then my hair, and then use a prepper before applying my powder foundation.
I want to share that I am a powder foundation user!!! I only use liquid foundation on special events or parties!!!
same with nikki, i use mineral powder foundation everyday except for really special occassions.
I use powder foundation on normal days. I either apply it with a brush (if i’m not in a hurry) or with a sponge (if I’m in a hurry, which is most of the time, haha). It’s actually also best to put powder foundation after moisturizing (especially those with dry skin, like me!) so you won’t get that powdery look.
I actually like powder foundation better because it’s easier to use and you can actually control the amount of coverage you want.
Like Nikki, I only use liquid foundation when I want to look really made up on special occasions and event. Powder foundation is perfect for those “natural” daily look
Oh, and I personally use Natural Rice Dual Wet & Dry Foundation, hehehe. From Beauty Bar, around Php795.00
never use it before but want to use it now on.

I’ll have to see if I could actually give it a test run but you guys will surely hear from me if and when I do. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, too!
Rin
Don’t you have problems applying it when you’re in a rush? (That’s often my main problem)
Nikki
What sort of powder foundation do you use? And what about your liquid foundation?
Char
You prefer powder over liquid? Or you simply use powder everyday because it creates a more “everyday” look than liquid?
Lia
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! What sort of liquid foundation do you use? And I’d love to check out the foundation you’re using, too. Off to Beauty Bar!
Jennifer
Let me know how it goes! I’d love to hear your take on it.
Woa, really? I’m surprised, I’ve always thought that powder foundation looked less natural than liquid! I also find it harder to apply.
I get a natural look with my liquid foundation, but it is very soft and I often mix it with my moisturizer.
lol im different than most people..
i put on liquid and then powder on top and it looks very natural.
Kitty
I’m with you on that. I love the moisturiser and liquid foundation combo. Though it may depend on the skin type maybe? Or perhaps application techniques? What do you think?
brittanyy!
I’m planning to experiment on that soon. I’ll soon see if I could achieve the same or hopefully better look when I do.
