Color Intrigue Bronzing Powder Duo
Rich, true color sweeps on for a natural, bronze glow. Duo features two blendable shades for an ideal bronzing effect.
I’ve been using the Color Intrigue Bronzing Powder Duo for the past six months. It came with the Elizabeth Arden Intervene makeup (liquid foundation) that they sent for review.
Packaging is elegant. Soft snap on and comes with a mirror like any normal compact, I guess. The smooth, glossy surface makes it look sophisticated. It comes with its own kabuki brush. However, I don’t recommend using the brush on the face. It’s too coarse and rough! I tried it and my skin felt raw like I had just exfoliated it. But with the brush, it’ll allow you to apply the powder onto you skin in even amounts. Yes, I repeat, it won’t dump a concentrated amount of powder on one area of your skin.
Initially, I had qualms using it cuz I found the shade a tad bit heavy, esp if I’m going to use it on the face. I’m going to end up looking like a lobster. Gah. But in time, I’ve managed to find a great mix which allows me to put it on with confidence. I end up with a sun-kissed skin tone which is awesome. It sort of leaves shimmers on the skin.
Using it on myself: I use a touch of the darker shade mixed with the lighter one on the face, over the foundation and concealer makeup. I made sure that the skin is dry so the powder won’t clump together. I apply blush on cheeks after. I combine the two shades in equal amounts for neck and chest area (and other parts like shoulders and back that will not be covered by my top).
With all experiments, you’ll encounter some snags as you get to know the makeup, i.e. application error, mixing it wrong, etc. One time, I actually ended up with one shoulder uber-red while the other, pale. I went great lengths correcting it. Gah. I removed the makeup in the end.
The Color Intrigue Bronzing Powder Duo cost $32 at ElizabethArden.com.
Verdit? If you’re the type who wants a bit of colour on your skin, this is one good option for a bronzer. It leaves room for shade lightening or darkening (whatever suits your fancy) all you need to do is blend.
Do you use a bronzer? What do you use? Have any of you guys tried this particular bronzer? How did you like it or not like it?

I haven’t used Elizabeth Arden’s bronzer, but it looks like its esthetic concept is similar to that of the bronzer that I use, which is Benefit’s 10. Like your Elizabeth Arden’s Bronzer Powder Duo, 10 also comes with a bronzer and highlighter/soft blush. I like this combination- I can get a healthy tan and warm cheeks all with a few swipes of the brush across my cheekbones. Like you, I also don’t want to end up with a bronzer that makes me look like a “lobster,” so after a few passes with other products, I’ve settled comfortably with 10. I guess every skin tone is different, and I never know how natural a bronzer looks on me until I go out into the sun with a mirror.
