Edelkoort and Beautypress Beauty Trends

Last week, Edelkoort and Beautypress.com hosted a presentation where beauty trends for 2010 were broken down (over glasses of wine, of course).

So, what are some trends to look forward to?
Well, as talked about in yesterday’s Irish Times, gray stays big – in fact, it’s the color of the future!
The colour grey, now so fashionable, is all about nuance and dialogue, and is an important metaphor for our times. It’s about a mature and democratic lifestyle, “an appeasing tone in times of change and financial crisis”, she [Edelkoort] argues. She lists 45 different shades of grey, from pearl grey to concrete, washed grey, mouse grey, and more.
“I had an incredible urge to see nuance and end the black-and-white dialogue,” she says. “I believe the grey mentality will be the renewal of our planet.”
What does this mean for beauty? Well, a lot! I love wearing gray–and I’ve seen it work its way into even nails and lips this season! While I am not quite sure that gray lips are ready for the office, a gray nail is a positively perfect way of embracing this trend in an unexpected way! And dove-colored nails? Quite the statement!
