Who on earth are these people looking so serious? This is (most) of our panel, at the Total Beauty Blog Summit. From the left are: Phil Del Rivo, our hysterical moderator (and EVP media & marketing, Total Beauty), Andy Cheatwood (Senior Program Manager, Total Beauty), Me (and my new haircut, which is where this post is going), and the lovely Teri Cosenzi.
This photo was from Saturday, but bright and early on Friday, Teri and I ventured to West Hollywood for haircuts at the Warren-Tricomi salon. How fun that was! First off, the owner of the salon, the renowned Kaz Amor (bio after the jump) spotted right away that I was in deep need of deep conditioning. Yes I was. I am totally out of moisturizing conditioner at my house (*gasp*). So Katelyn (apologies if I misspell her name, I failed to get a proper spelling!), the shampoo tech, gave me a fabulous shampoo and conditioning treatment (from Redken, Intense Renewal).
Once that was over, the fun began. My hairdresser was the absolutely adorable Christine Symonds. I just loved her – we clicked immediately. Here is her bio:
Celebrity hairstylist Christine Symonds has become a favorite of the Hollywood community for her personalized, unique cuts that cater to her clients everyday lifestyle. Her philosophy of cutting hair is about accentuating bone structure while playing up personal style.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Christine started cutting hair at an early age for friends and family yet never really considered it a potential career. She continued to cut and style hair through college to make some extra cash while focusing her passions on art, architecture, and design. When she realized that being a stylist allowed her to combine all of her favorite creative passions together in one profession she knew it was her calling.
Christine graduated from the Vidal Sassoon Academy as a premier student and then traveled to New York City to train under famed stylist Edward Tricomi. After working by Mr. Tricomi’s side for several months Christine began working at Warren-Tricomi Los Angeles and has been making her mark there ever since.
Christine’s work has been featured on The Hills, America’s Next Top Model, The Biggest Loser. Her styles have been seen on runways including William Rast, Louis Verdad and Corey Lynn Calter. Christine regularly styles red carpet beauties such as Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Odette Yustman among many others.
We talked a lot about her training with Edward Tricomi, and how he taught her about cutting hair dry. Having been through cosmetology school myself, one of the things you are taught is to almost never cut hair dry. I had a blast watching her and talking to her while she immediately blew my hair out nice and straight, then proceeded to cut it. The resulting haircut (shown above!) really was gorgeous. A few flips around with the curling iron to finish it off, and I was done. My hair felt amazing. I wish I had picked up a bottle of the Redken Intense Renewal while I was there, but I just didn’t want to have to pack anything else in my suitcase (and besides, I have a cosmetology license, and honestly MUCH prefer to buy products from the distributor, for obvious reasons). So Ill be out shopping this week when I dig out from all of my email/work that is behind.
All in all, the experience was just grand. Teri got a great haircut from Lorenzo, and we left Warren-Tricomi just as chic as we could possibly be. We spent the rest of the day sweating in Beverly Hills, walking around, dining, shopping – fun fun fun!
