Get your NU face on!

nuface.jpgOne of my favorite beauty icons, Audrey Hepburn, once said, “The beauty of a woman changes with the passing years, it is up to her to manage the change she desires.”

She was so right.

Now, more than 55 years later, Audrey Hepburn’s philosophy has enlightened millions of women to the benefits of taking advantage of all science has to offer when it comes to their appearance.

I’m excited to see though that doing so just became a little bit easier.

Check out the NuFace device: It was recently cleared by the FDA as an at-home cosmetic device that safely and effectively improves the appearance of the face through the use of microcurrent technology. The muscles and skin tissues are lifted and toned utilizing the NuFace’s non-invasive and gentle electrical stimulation. “The NuFace device is bringing anti-aging to the next level,” says Dr. Peter Pugliese, a renowned physician and lead medical consultant of clinical studies for the Carol Cole Company. “Where Botox has made the anti-aging market turn on its heels, the NuFace device is a new and innovative skin health product.”

Currently, microcurrent technology is used in spas to lift and tone the face, reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, improve facial circulation, skin exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, treat sun damage and skin pigment as well as improve product penetration.

Emil Y. Chi, PhD, director of the University of Washington’s department of pathology, performed clinical studies using microcurrent technology. He notes, “The fact that this technology works in harmony with the body is evident. Examination of skin tissue treated with microcurrents showed a 45% increase in the number of elastin fibers in the dermis, collagen thickness in connective tissue increased 10%, and the number of blood vessels increased by 35%. The application of microcurrents to the skin and tissue produced a firmer and tighter feeling on the skin’s surface.”

This all feels like a magic wand, doesn’t it? How does it work?

The NuFace device can be used daily as an addition to a healthy skin regimen. A non-invasive approach to facial rejuvenation, the NuFace device is used to improve muscle tone in the face. The user glides the NuFace device along the contour of the face while a gentle alternating current is emitted through dual spherical probes. In addition, the NuFace device compliments many professional treatments including LED, laser, invasive procedures and injectables such as Botox.

“The NuFacecurrently retailed at spas, medispas, and select online retailers including www.myNuFace.com $379.00 and the kit includes: the NuFace® device, Derma-Gel, Optimizing Mist, Instructional DVD, One year warranty and 30-day money back guarantee. However, ONE reader will win one right now.

To have your chance to win, please share your own tried (and perhaps failed?) methods of following Ms. Hepburn’s sage advice. Deadline November 25.

used to be a sun worshipper and am now seeing age-spots and fine lines. I wish I had listened to my Mom……….. Please help me try to get rid of some of these spots and wrinkles and look less “Grandma like” at 50 years old.

  4. Karen Gonyea says:

    Sunscreen every day :)

  5. Kathy Conley says:

I always use plenty of mosturizer and this is my best tip for following her advice!

  6. Aimee says:

I have tried pretty much everything to get rid of my acne in the last 10-12 years — creams, pills, scrubs, minerals, vitamins, toners, masks, prescriptions… EVERYTHING — and am still searching for something that works. Maybe a relaxing facial massage would calm my oil glands a bit!!

  7. Ashley G says:

    Less is more!

  8. Chelsea says:

    Moisturize!

  9. Kayte Watts says:

My worst attempt at managing my own skin care routine was at 17, when I was trying to stop breakouts. Following a tip I read in Cosmo, I used nail polish remover as a toner, and gave myself a chemical burn. My attempts have vastly improved, but I could still use some help!

I stay out of the sun most of the time, use sunscreen when it can’t be avoided, and moisturize several times a day.

  11. Christie says:

I stopped tanning at 30. I wish I had never started. Tanning is baking in a future wrinkle.

  12. Lisa Brown says:

I wash my face nightly and always apply sunscreen as well

  13. Karen Gonyea says:

    Pick me please :)

  14. Susan Burch says:

    Nice! Thanks!

  15. getpalmd says:

I once thought that not moisturizing your face would be help to get rid of oily skin. This was when I was younger and had problems with oily skin. Bad idea.. got worse! Didn’t know that oily skin is much a result of dry skin and the skin producing more oil to keep it moisturized.

  16. Christina E says:

    How cool is this.

  17. Sharon Seneker says:

I always use makeup with SPF but this win would really healp! Thanks!

  18. Amy Parsons says:

I have tried a lot of different “devices” and lotions and potions. This contraption is very appealing. I would love to win.

  19. Lisa says:

I always have and always will wear sunscreen. I also moisturize daily, eat healthy meals, and drink plenty of water.

  20. Elizabeth M. says:

I do use a nighttime moisturizer but I am guilty of being inconsistent.

  21. Linda Iverson says:

    Clean skin is the key.

  22. Alexandra C. says:

I don’t smoke, get plenty of rest, eat well, exercise, drink lots of water and wear sunscreen…boring, but it works!

  23. Melinda L Smith says:

Audrey Hepburn, once said, “The beauty of a woman changes with the passing years, it is up to her to manage the change she desires.”
So with that said I have learned to wash my face with cool water to shrink the looks of my facial pores.I would love to win this.

  24. Karen Gonyea says:

    H20 is the answer :)

  25. Dan Smith says:

I wear sunscreen when I’m out in the sun

  26. Angela says:

No smoking! Also, I have moisturized and worn wrinkle cream since I was in high school. I often get mistaken for my son’s sister. The daily ritual works.

  27. Tina hartley says:

    I really need this

  28. Max says:

    Moisturize

  29. Carolyn D says:

Eye cream is an absolute must. Especially at my age and this time of year, when a cocktail or two may pass my lips.
    Great Giveaway!

  30. cathleen nash says:

Audrey Hepburn had rather flawless skin! Her philosophy boils down to managing (as well accepting) how we age… but we could all use a little help from advanced technology (that isn’t as crazy/unnatural as Botox!) Although I’m fairly happy with my skin’s appearance (still in late 20s), I know older ladies who’d love to give this new system a whirl. Thanks!!

  31. Dominique W says:

I agree because as I’ve aged, my skincare methods have changed. Vitamins and mineral supplements get tweaked as do the lotions and potions I use. Right now I use Mary Kay Timewise products as well as a retexturizing peel. And extra eye cream. What I would love to try is the NuFace device because I think my skin is beginning to change.

  32. Huguette E. says:

Sounds cool. The only advice I follow is clean, moisturize and sunblock.

  33. Kobi Hendrix says:

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone

  34. Zoey says:

I make sure to get plenty of exercise to manage the changes I desires!

  35. Judy says:

I take a few minutes a day and do face exercises! Looks funny but it helps keep the muscles toned.

  36. susan says:

Drink lots of water, do not smoke and wear sunscreen!

  37. chastidy vernengo says:

Looks cool!! I clean, moisturize, and apply sunblock daily!!

  38. LBirk says:

At 46, people often guess I’m still in my 30s. Of the many ways to control how you age and remain young mentally, physically, and “at heart,” the best bets are to never stop learning, to stay fit, and to live passionately. Oh, and also take advantage of exciting new technology and products such as NuFace. A little extra boost never hurts! Thanks for the opportunity.

  39. R Hicks says:

I WASH AND MOISTURIZE ALL OF THE TIME

  40. D Johnson says:

    Moisturize

  41. Susan Burch says:

I keep my face clean (but not too clean to strip) and use lots of mosturizer.

  42. Samantha Pruitt says:

i try to exfoliate as often as possible.

  43. Lisa Brown says:

I wash my face nightly, use sun block and get facials on a daily basis

  44. Doreen says:

Unfortunately,to quote John Lennon, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.” The opportunities for beauty rest have decreased as the stress and responsibilities have increased. Genetics play a large part in how we age. I am fortunate in that department. At 50, life is starting to take its toll, though.

  45. Tammie says:

I think the keys words from Ms. Hepburn’s advice are “manage the change.” It’s a process that rewards over time. Personally, I make a conscious effort to pamper my skin, control my diet, excercise and get plenty of rest. This regiment would be sound advice for many – but by no means is it easy to maintain – it takes work, and how many times can you make an excuse to yourself?

  46. Dan Smith says:

    Moisturize

  47. kathy pease says:

i once heard that egg yolk tightened up the skin i tried it and it was really messy and it did tighten the skin only when on my face..WHO THE HELL WANTS TO WALK AROUND LIKE THAT..LOL and it was a bitch to wash off..that was the last time i tried that..i would love to win this :)

  48. dani says:

I pluck my gray even the one in my eyebrow. I have been doing it since my early twenties. And it does not double the gray. You do have to be careful of getting bald spots but I am lucky to have tons of hair.

  49. Veronica Garrett says:

I use a moisturizer on my face each day. I don’t do anything else. When I was younger I would try all the products that were marketed but most of them provided little benefit.

  50. Susan Smith says:

I try to exfoliate as often as possible
