It’s a really pretty bracelet – reminds me a little of the friendship bracelets I wore when I was a kid a century ago.
Last week, Avon actually invited me to a private screening of the new movie Precious, and it conjured up a lot of the same feelings this bracelet does –wearing it is a symbol of unity that represents a future without limitations for all women — and in the movie, we saw Precious with the most incredible odds stacked against her – and her being victorious in the end.
Bracelet proceeds will be used to create a new Avon Empowerment Fund and the first $500,000 from bracelet sales will be matched by the Avon Foundation for a total donation of $1 million to UNIFEM, the United Nations Development Fund for Women, for projects that will empower women around the world.
So, even though I am giving a bracelet away, I really really hope all of you go to the site and BUY one. Buy it for yourself, buy it for your family, your friends, every awesome woman in your life – can you think of a more meaningful stocking stuffer? Really.
But if you want the one I am giving away – share one thought on what women can do to empower each other in the here and now. Deadline is December 1 – good luck!

Oh! these are very nice!
Women can support, look out for & build each other up instead
of tearing one another down!
Motivate one another to acheive goals.
They can support their sisters by listening
Women can empower each other by helping each other – with taking care of kids and deadlines for work and cooking – in order to get ahead! Then the whole task is not contantly the burden of one individual woman working alone!
Getting together for a “girls night” at least once a month for some bonding time.
Give time and attention to the self-esteem of our young girls and boys. Read to them. Applaud the little things they do right (start homework without asking, go to bed on time, help a sibling or friend, etc.). The main point is to do the small things that build up to teaching them they are special, worthy, and can do whatever they want in life. Let the positivity squelch the negativity they hear elsewhere.
See the dove.com program on self-esteem.
Women can empower each other by cooperating in social events, courses, etc.
Really listening to them and affirming them with their unique attributes will do wonders!
Women can choose to accept each other for whom they are. We can choose to look at the good and to overlook each other’s faults. We can choose to love.
Girls night out
WOULD LOVE TO WIN!
Women can help empower each other through the sharing of helpful career tips based on your area(s) of expertise. For me, I’m a recruiter by profession, so I love to help other women with interview tips, assembling an effective resume, and salary negotiation tools that can help propel others’ careers to the next level.
Motivation is the key! thankyou!
