LaurEss Mineral Cosmetics

I have discovered a new line of mineral cosmetics made by LaurEss. They have a very wide selection of beautiful colors in foundation, eye and check color, and all at very competitive prices. I had the chance to try 2 of their mineral eyeshadows, Papyrus (which is a neutral pearlized color) and Mesmerize (a silver/periwinkle sparkle), and I love them both. Gorgeous pigments, the pearl is very, very subtle and the sparkle is just beautiful (and the photo below does not give justice to this gorgeous color).

Consequence is the blush I am using, and in this picture it looks much more rosy than it is. It is just a shade darker than my (pale, rosy) skin tone and is a great shade for contouring.

All of the colors are available in sample sizes, for $2-3 each, which is mighty nice. The only suggestion I would have for them is to more clearly define their foundation descriptions in warm/cool terms. I had a bit of a hard time finding the color that I thought I would use in a foundation, and you just can’t rely on computer colors, or even printed colors on a page to determine a good match for your skin tone. I think maybe the Radiant Petal would be the best choice for me, but there is another color or two I might like to try also.

A really nifty suggestion (well, one of many) on the LaurEss website is to use your mineral colors in your nail polish – they suggest either adding them to a bottle of clear, or to just wipe some on your nail and then polish over it. This worked great for me, and is really my favorite use of the consequence color. Use a basecoat, let it dry well, then smudge some color on with your fingertip. The coverage is even and easy to do. Then use a top coat. Fini.
