Never had a single problem with it. Anything you put or use on your body can be harmful or toxic in some form or another. Just read the ingredents label sometime on the bottle of that fancy expensive foundation you probably use..most of that stuff you cannot even pronounce. Different things work for different people, you have to take into effect skin type, sensitivity, etc. It is not one size fits all just like anything else in life. It really gets my face clean and it's way better than Proactiv (which I also tried), I think. The only downside is that the smell of the exfoliating gel can be kind of heavy (like vinegar... that's what it smells like to me), but as soon as I follow it up with lotion, the smell goes away for me... it's also a little more expensive than Proactiv, but again, it works a lot better.
