Makeup for Camera Work

Whether it is your wedding day, you have a television interview or you are going to get your pictures made, makeup should be a concern for you. In fact, a big concern. We all know how much of a difference cosmetics make in our daily appearance. How many times do you see someone and think, “boy, she really would be beautiful if she had some makeup on!”
People will be looking at your pictures from now throughout the rest of your life, and beyond. Take the time to show your best appearance during these times by using some extra tricks. You never quite know how the color is going to be processed, so keep the use of color to a minimum. Think smoothing and contouring. Use the contouring tricks that I mentioned here to really sculpt a more perfect face shape, narrow the appearance of your nose (if you need to) and to make the best of your cheekbones. Be sure that your foundation matches your neck, there is nothing worse than looking like you are wearing a mask in pictures. Blend it well into your hairline. Use a concealer to hide any blemishes, and under-eye circles.
Cameras, especially television cameras, can really wash you out. Do use a little bit extra blush and eye shadow than you would normally be comfortable wearing. Wear lipstick. If you don’t normally wear it, choose it in a tone that is just a shade or two darker than your lip color, but whatever you do, wear it. Try a bit of bronzer on your forehead and chin. Take the time to line your eyes, in whatever style you like, heavy or light. But at least line the upper eyelids. Take a lot of time doing your eyelashes. If you will be seen close up in these pictures, take a very long time to do your lashes. Comb them between each coat. Curl them with an eyelash curler, or use this trick (my favorite): After each coat of mascara, turn on your hair dryer, point it towards the ceiling, and slowly lean into it, until you can feel it blowing your lashes up. This is an amazing trick, only takes a second, and doesn’t pull any lashes out!
More about beauty in front of the camera next week. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
