That is such exciting news, Christina.

I’m not content to just check it out online, I’m going off to buy a hard copy.

  2. Atta girl! It IS pretty exciting – I saw it in the store today before my mail arrived, so now I have two copies. :)

I was flipping through the new Allure magazine on a plane home from vaca last night and knew i had to log on. I am a self-pronounced beauty junkie also and my tastes on skin care and makeup has run the gamut since the time I was 15. At 25, having conquered the formidable acne years, I’ve taken to finding cleansers, toners and only the best foundations/concealers/powders to rid my skin of oil, allow my pores to “breathe” and work overtime on decreasing the start of fine lines i’m developing on my forehead and at the corners of my eyes. My mother has always been no-fuss about makeup and cleansers and thinks I’m nuts for having spent the time and money I have on products. Easy for her to say – with the exception of some redness around her nose my mother has the perfect complexion. A bar of Dove soap in the shower is her beauty regimen. I used to envy her for this reason but I’ve come to realize that shopping around for the best skin care items and makeup is somehow in my blood and I refuse to give it up. My question remains – what is better: a beauty product line or a smorgasbord of different options to create the glowing skin I’ve always lusted after?? I’d also love to share ideas and comments with the rest of you beauty bloggers.

  8. Thank you all so much – it is so exciting to be in Allure – unreal, really!!

Lindsay – There is really no reason to use a particular line – picking and choosing products that work for you is just fine. If there is a line that works great for you, sometimes that is a little easier on you, but totally unnecessary. Thanks so much for your comment, and I hope to see you back around these parts soon!

    Christina -

I just found your site through the allure article. How cool to see a fellow BCS resident!

  10. MissMelissa says:

Wow! I am also a beauty junkie. I am new to the computer and being online–don’t be too hard on me–I live in rural Ohio. It is such a relief to know that there are MANY people out there like me. I found your site in ALLURE, yours is the third that I’ve looked at, and the second one that I’ve put on my favorites. (I also liked Bergdorfgoodman, she’s from Ohio too, but didn’t care much for Jack & Hill) I also love the Queen Helene Masque, I discovered it in ALLURE last year and it works wonders on my acne-prone skin. Congradulations, I bet you’re gonna be swamped with new people after that article. I know I’ll be back soon!

  11. From one beauty blogger to another–3 cheers for you Christina! It’s nice to be validated that you really do have a fabulous blog! :)

    xoxo
    Shannon

  12. Tonya – Howdy! Beauty pickin’s here in BCS are rather slim, but thankfully glorious Houston is right around the corner, eh?

MissMelissa – I am blogging from small town Texas, so don’t worry about your small town – we can find beauty anywhere! You did good bookmarking BlogdorfGoodman, Annie has some great stuff going on there. And thanks for bookmarking me too! Thanks also, so much, for taking the time to comment, ladies – I sure appreciate it and hope to see you back around soon!!

LBB – Thanks so much for the cheers – we need to have a virtual glass of champagne!!!

  1. [...] First off, with Allure magazine. Kristen Kelly at BeautyAddict wrote a post this past week about how disappointed she was with her portion of the article, and I have heard similar sentiments from others as well, and apparently so has Gawker. Just to give my opinions here – I was not similarly disappointed, they got all my favorite products correct (they chose just about the first 5 from the 15 or so I gave them), and the quotes very close to correct, although they definitely were not direct quotes (as you can see when you read them, they are just not my voice at all). The only real mistake they made was to call me an aesthetician, when in fact I did aesthetic work a very long time ago, and chose nail care as my focus for the vast majority of my career in the salon. Their editorial staff contacted me several times to fact check and make corrections, and I think therefore came up with a pretty true article where I was concerned. However, the point Kristen made about the misinformation surrounding the Magic Eraser is very valid, not to mention a little scary, be sure and read the actual caveats on Lipstick is my Crack before you even consider using the Magic Eraser on your skin. Thank you again, Allure, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate being included in that article!! [...]
