Medical Spas – Not Always Making You More Beautiful

Once again, I am behind. ;) I have had this article for nearly a week, but didn’t want to let it go by if you all haven’t seen it. There are so many spas out there these days that are just plain ol not being run properly, and having procedures done improperly and not supervised by doctors. Be careful out there, and do your research before you go to one.

Laser treatments are so popular these days, they can remove age spots, sun spots, wrinkles and unwanted hair. I really have never given these things too much of a second thought – I thought they were pretty safe, and I guess they are for the most part, but if they are botched, they are really botched. Here are a couple pictures, the first one is of a botched sun spot removal, and the second one is a botched hair removal. Read the accompanying article at the ABC web site if you didn’t see the story on Good Morning America last week. And check out all the pictures. Yikes.

Have you had laser work done before? If so, I hope your results were better than this – tell us about it, if you have a minute. ;)

  1. Ew! I’ll be very, very careful if I ever have any laser treatments. Serious burns just take all the fun out of spa treatments!

And I thought the time I came home with 1 1/2 eyebrows was bad…

  2. I don’t think that Laser treatments should be done in unsupervised spas. Sure, they are licensed, but by whom?

I rather go to a dermatologist with tons of experience and referrals.

    Bottom line – be careful!!!

  3. LOL TBQ – I hate to say it, but in my early cosmetology years, I did that to someone. The worst thing about it? It was a man. Well, even worse than that, it was a guy I went to high school with. Ugh. :) But you both are definitely right – lets keep the dangerous treatments in the doctor’s office! :)

Hi, my name is Melissa. I am sixteen years old and i have just recently had laser hair removal on my full arms. I was unfortunate to have recieved these same blotches of redness on my arms. Thankfully they are ony on one arm, since after doing the first full arm the machine been especially used for my skin type gave out. We came into another room with a different type of laser being used, the pain was a little stronger, yet alot faster. Once i had come home i noticed bright red circles, all through out my arms, thats when i panicked and came on here seeking advice and the truth. The redness increased in the shower, but has seemed to gone down through out an hour. My junior prom is this saturday and i am in desperate need!! If you have any advice, on how to tame the redness or any followups on what happened to these clients please let me know. Thank you.

Have you tried Xsura skin products for your aging skin?

Try 24/7 Protect Serum by Xsura. It works wonders! The advanced extremophile blend along with shiitake mushroom extract help to calm redness and soothe inflammation for a more youthful complexion. It is ideal if your skin is showing visible signs of loss of elasticity, fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, rough texture, sun damage, discoloration and crow’s feet. You simply have to apply after cleansing in the morning and evening.

They use tiny microorganisms called extremophiles, a life form found to possess a unique and powerful enzyme structure that not only protects the organism from the ravaging effects of its unusually harsh habitat, but even has the ability to repair itself.

Isn’t this good news for aging skin!
