My Secret Weapon Against Blackheads

This is my dirty little secret, but I am sharing it with you finally. I have whined in the past, probably many times now, about how the Texas heat has been awful on my pores. And, the facials I have tried here in this smallish town have really been less than helpful (most of the time they should be very helpful in this department!). I SO miss my old esthetician who used this fabulous little pore vacuum on my face and had her magnifying light so she didn’t miss a-one!

This is the Panasonic Pore Cleanser (available through drugstore.com). Igia makes a similar product that works just as well as this, and runs on batteries, for about $10. I tried that one, but when I lost the vacuum attachment to it (I am blaming that on my mothers overzealous sweeping habit when she came to visit last year–sorry mom!) and could neither find a replacement attachment OR another one altogether, I decided to step up in the world, and try the Panasonic, as continuing to live without this was no longer an option. This one is cordless/rechargable, can be used in the tub, and has a mist function, which is very useful because you must keep your skin moist when using this. The price jumped up to around $50 (the price of one professional pore sucking!), but was worth every penny. Read the directions carefully, and heed them, or you will find yourself with some nice “hickeys” on your face. Not beautiful. But neither are blackheads.

This would be a fantastic Christmas gift for yourself, or for anyone you know that battles blackheads.

Hmmmm. Blackheads hickeys blackheads hickeys…. Hard to decide! ;)

  2. Hickeys can be covered with makeup- I’ll take those anyday if I have to make a choice! ;)

I have also found that the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush works well to removed dead skin and blackheads. It can be found on drugstore.com.

  4. Thanks for the tip – I love those, and have a hard time replacing them when I inevitably need to! thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  5. So does this work well for the blackheads on your nose? That is where mine are most noticable. And when they are gone, what do you use to close your pores so that they aren’t clogged so quickly again (or give you the look of a million holes)?

    Thanks Miss Christina!

  6. It is perfect for the blackheads on your nose – you can see them being sucked out – very cool!! Cold water will close your pores as will a toner. Just use general good cleansing methods and use this vacuum regularly and your skin will be grateful! :)

  7. I can tell that this is not the first time you write about the topic. Why have you decided to touch it again?

  2. [...] 2. Steam – either with a facial steamer or a boiling pot of water over the stove (be careful!!) sit with your face as close to the steam as is comfortable for you. You can put a towel over your head and let it hang down so you create a mini steam bath for your face. Steam for about 5 minutes. 3. Extractions – I hate this word, but there are no better ones. Use either my favorite extraction tool or the pore vacuum, do NOT use your fingers. You will bruise your skin and make a big mess, and potentially cause infections (bad!). [...]
