My Top 5 Short Hairstyles

If you love short hair, but have been sucked in for the past several years by the long flowing extensions locks that have been all the rage, it is time to get with the trend and lop it off! Here are my top 5 favorite short haircuts this season:

katie-holmes-bob

5. Katie Holmes bob - while this has been touted as an imitation of Victoria Beckham’s haircut, it really is a good bit different, and is a longer, more layered shag version of a bob. And also a more boring version. Go figure. ;)

paris-hilton-short-hair

4. Paris Hilton’s short shag Love her or hate her (I happen to love her), Paris Hilton is a trend setter. With her cutting her hair into this short shag bob, similar to Katie Holmes (but slightly less boring), bazillions of women all over the planet will be following suit.

jenny-mccarthy-bob kelly-clarkson-bob

3. The classic straight bob. Jenny McCarthy is wearing it, and so is Kelly Clarkson (with a little more texturizing to make it more wispy)- very cute, very classic, and very doable on any hair type and face shape with some adjustments in length.

posh-bob-front posh-bob-back

2. The Angular Posh Bob. This is already getting overdone, no doubt, but it has ushered in short hairstyles officially as a trend. At our high school’s football game last Friday night, I saw no less than 10 Posh Bobs. But they are cute, and, I have to admit, I cut my daughters hair into it 2 weeks ago. ;) This is well suited to almost any face shape (looks especially cute on Victoria’s heart shaped face) and hair texture, as are most bobs.

sharon-osbourne-haircut

1. Sharon Osbourne’s short shag - This is a personal favorite of mine, and has been for a long time. I have always loved Sharon’s toussled, sort of spiky hair that can go from wild and rock-n-roll, down to a darling, fit for a meeting with the Queen, soccer mom ‘do. This cut is ageless and timeless and will never be out of style.

The long and short of it (no pun intended!) is - there IS a short hairstyle for you. If you think your face shape is not well suited to short hair, think again, and find a great hairdresser that knows their stuff, and they can absolutely give you a cut that will look hot (and be cool!) and stylish. If you have been caring for those long straight locks for the last few years, its time for a change, don’t ya think?

I love Paris’ short shag. I wonder if it’ll look good on me. I’m too scared to part with my long locks. Gah.

  2. I’m with Sasha on this one. I would love to go short, but I would be scared to death to go short after all these years. When I was a kid I had what was called a Duck Tail… that sort of turned me off short hair, but after seeing these styles, I’m warming up.

  3. It would have to be Kelly Clarkson for me. Short hair is great but I enjoy the flexibility of being able to pull it up when I want too for variety.

Can you believe my hairdresser refuses to cut my hair short? I admit that I look better with my hair long but I hate how it feeeels.

  5. Jenny says:

I love the angeled bob! Very cute. I tried this one once, but unfortunately I don’t have the face shape for it.

  6. Wow great hairstyle pictures… from the above all my all time favourite is Victoria Beckham..ishe looks really nice in short bob haircuts. thanks

  7. June says:

I love the easy maintenance of my own short hair but I have to disagree about there being a short cut for everyone - some people just look so much better with long locks. Although Sharon Osbourne’s hair does look good!

i would have to say posh. :] i have had long hair my whole life. NEVER would i have dared to go short but just a month or 2 ago, i decided to cut it all off, my face is sort of long & i felt that with long hair, it drags it out more,i think this bob is very.. -in fashion & it is not as time consuming but still cute, the only complaint is that on a tired day you cant just pull it up like i was so used to, but that is when no time drying comes in handy.

  9. ashley says:

I love all the bobs. They are great for all ages. I have the kelly clarkson classic straight bob and its so easy to do. I love it. The posh bob is my second favorite.

  10. thanks for the great advice…bob is my all time fav

  11. Kate says:

If you love your long hair, DON”T CUT IT. I just went in and asked for a Jenny McCarthy bob and came out with the most hacked up horrible mess. I had long hair about 3 inches past my shoulders and I cry every day because I can’t spend an hour or two trying to figure out what to do with all this chopped up layer mess that was done to me. I’m so traumatized that I’ll never cut my hair again aside form trims.

  12. Michelle says:

short hair is in right now and when it comes out your hair will grow back in– you shouldn’t miss out on this awseme oppertunity to cut your hair when the style his in

  13. hairstyles says:

I think the bob trend is over! Paris, Victoria, Katie, even tila tequila! I’m honesty tired of seeing bobs everywhere now.

  14. GIRLY GIRL says:

I love the layered bob cut… it is the best cut i have ever had easy fun and shows the great color work my awesome stylist did for me …
