Plantidote by Dr. Andrew Weil and Origins

October 13, 2005 by Christina Jones

Although I have acquired a bit of a personal grudge against Origins, they may have found a way to win me over. This month, they have introduced a new line of skin care in conjunction with Dr. Andrew Weil, a man who I have an immense amount of respect for. Dr. Weil is an M.D, a botanist, an author and the leader in natural wellness therapies. Their line of skincare begins with Plantidote, a mushroom and herb based based serum and a liquid supplement that work together to improve your skin from the inside out. The line also features a supplement to take at night, Nite-trition, that purportedly will help restore your skin’s vitality while you sleep. Unfortunately for all of us, Dr. Weil’s line is not available for purchase online, although I have seen it on EBay.

If you have never heard of Dr. Weil before, be sure and go to DrWeil.com where you can find a great many of his views and suggestions on how to live a full and healthy life, from the inside out, using natural therapies and the mind. Very interesting stuff!

Why the personal grudge against Origins? I’ve used it for about 3 years after trying everything ranging from "miracles" to "over priced", and Origins has literally given me the healthiest skin of my life. I got the Plantidote about two-three weeks ago, and the results have been amazing, ranging from reducing my chronic redness to the total disappearance of facial bumpiness I’ve just accepted as reality. I swear by them. SO what’s your grudge all about? Please explain to a newbie :)

Hi Loretta! My grudge is business related, not product related, so no worries. I am going to try this out, due to my respect for Dr. Weil. I am glad to hear your great results from Origins, I know a lot of people who feel the same way. Thanks so much for reading and the comment :)

I’ve always like Origins products and reference Dr. Weil quite often. I may have to go check out what’s new next time I’m in Singapore (they don’t sell Origins in Vietnam).

I can’t believe they sell it here in my small town, but they do. I am getting ready to start a study group at MRSA Resources for Dr. Weil’s book, 8 Weeks to Optimum Health, and I was really interested to read in another of his books (in preparation for the course) about the mushroom ingredients that are in these products and how beneficial they are to your immune system. It was really interesting to read the older information (from a 1995 published book) after learning about these brand new skin care products. I am sure I will be running out to get them by the weekend, and will post an update soon about my results!

Hi! I’m glad that you responded in a positive way to my question. I wondered if I might be deleted, as the webmasters have the power to "get rid of" controversy that they’d rather not address. You proved yourself an honorable person by replying as you did. I’m glad to hear also that Dr. Weil’s information is consistant over the years also, as I’ve only read his 8 Weeks and bought his cookbook at Origins. As an aside, I bought the rest of the complete line at my favorite Origins here in White Plains in NY (they were kind enough to ship to me for free since I couldn’t get down there any time soon), and also got his Evening Primrose Oil and Anti-Oxidant supplements that they also sell (for him, his brand). I SWEAR my skin has improved rather quickly and the Nite-Trition that’s supposed to help you sleep AND help your skin overnight is sending me off to a gentle slumber, so no more Ambien for this girl! Thanks again for a great website!

Good for you Loretta–I am going to go get it this weekend. I am reading 8 weeks myself right now, and in fact am getting ready to start a study group on it at my website http://www.mrsaresources.com/, but shhh…it is a secret, don’t tell anybody over there yet. :) You might be interested, if you are, just keep an eye on the site, and the group will probably start up around the first of November. About Origins–I had an unfavorable transaction with them several years ago, that made me so angry that I swore I would never use them again. LOL You know how things come back and slap you in the face sometimes :) Take good care of yourself, and hope to hear more from you soon!

Thank you all for your comments. I too like & read Dr. Weil, & was interested to see his name connected with skin-care. I was hesitant because I have very dry hyper-sensative- to- cosmetics 66 yo skin. I use mostly Shea butter. My local store is offering a trial with consultation. Thanks to you I am going to try it.
