Pointy Fingernail Story

While I was browing one of the forums that I watch for Brad Pitt news, I ran across a thread about everyones favorite stars from old Hollywood days. In it, I saw this picture of Jean Harlow and it reminded me of a client I used to have:

This clients name was Rita, and she was probably somewhere around 75 years old, and she always wanted me to file her nails into points. It would take me forever to get her nails filed, because I wanted to round them gracefully, but she always insisted on the POINT. I just didn’t get it. LOL She said that she played bridge and it made it much easier to pick up cards, but when I saw this picture, I had one of those big “ah ha” moments – this is EXACTLY what her nails looked like – I wish she had shown me this picture years ago, I have never seen nails like it before or since, until today.

OMG, Christina!
At the end of high school, I wanted to get noted for something – and I had always been admired for my long, natural nails. So I started filing mine into a point, just like that. And oddly enough, I would paint the top of the point a different color than the rest – and this was way before any mention of any type of french manicure or it’s variations. (By the way – it was the late 80’s – so I am exempt from any comments from the peanut gallery.)
Oh – I need to find a picture and share!
