As we all know (and those of us who need to listen are tired of hearing about it), smoking is bad. It is bad for you and your family, it is bad for your wallet and it is also bad for your skin. Smoking is one of the top ways that those dreadful free radicals are created that do their dirty work breaking down cells and making our faces wrinkley. And wrinkles are the not-so-bad stuff that is going on in your body because of smoking.
My dear friend Hsien and the Science and Health channel had their first “theme day” yesterday, and guess what theme they chose? Yep, smoking. Here is a roundup of all the posts yesterday, in case you are interested, or know someone who might be.
It just so happened that I coincidentally received in the mail just last night some product samples to test from Joey New York. Joey has come out with some specialty products based on aromatherapy. I will talk more about the other products I received later on after I get a better feel for them, but one is so timely that I wanted to tell you about it. It is a lip balm that is called lipNIX – here is what Joey says about it:
Designed to help you say “NO” to smoking, the LipNIX collection incorporates a blend of lemon, geranium and helichrysum fragrances proven to safely help curb the urge to smoke. The scent of lemon combined with the essences of geranium and heliochysum provide immediate stimulation of the brain to help you cope wiht any physiological and psychological forces that you may experience when you begin to stop smoking. The herbal scents act naturally upon the neural-receptiors in the brain, which have been conditioned over thime to expect, even demand, satisfaction by nicotine stimulation.
The lipNIX collection comes in colored lip gloss ($15), Lipstick (tube- $18), a gorgeous Palette ($25) and the lip balm ($12). The flavor and scent is really nice.
I refuse to admit or to commit to anything right here and now, but let’s just say that hopefully I will be less cranky next week with the use of the lipNIX balm. I will let you know.

Interesting. Sounds a little more pleasant than the patch. Wonder if they are in Canada yet.
I think I’ll slather on some of that lipNIX too to help maximize the stimulation of your brain.
Thanks Hsien. /me rolls eyes LOL
And Tris, I am not sure about that, check out the web site!
I would send you my lip balm to try if I didn’t think that Hsien was going to win the battle and I am going to severely need it here in the next day or two.
I’m with you. I’ve slipped a couple times. Like I said, stress is my trigger and I’ve been under a lot recently.
Jeez … I haven’t put my patch on yet … oh where to put it today.
Which end do you light on that lipNIX? hahaha
You know, it sounds all well and good, and if you’ve got a free sample, I say go for it, but I remember how bad those nic cravings could be. They’d just laugh in aromatherapy’s face! I’m 3 years and 10 months nicotine free, and now I realize how unbeautiful smokers smell. Good luck when you’re ready to quit, Christina. I’ll be supportive for you. Let us know how those products work.
Now where was this when I went “cold turkey” many moons ago!
Tanning and smoking are the best way to create those free radicals. When tanning you should always use a good tanning lotion, even a cheap tanning lotion is better than none at all. We are actually coming out to market in the next 30 days with a facial moisturizer that not only stops the negative effects of smoking, but reverses them. It will be a quality product at an affordable price. Check us out at http://www.bestindoortanninglotion.com
I don’t know of any smoker that does not regret the day they started smoking. They might not admit it, but they do.
