Wow – this is surprising news. Anita Roddick sold The Body Shop last year to L’Oreal amidst much scandal. She has always been a champion of human rights and the environment, and L’Oreal is pro-animal testing. Ms. Roddick revealed in February of this year that she had Hepatitis C, and yesterday evening died from a sudden brain hemmorage. So sad. RIP

Would you believe that Anita lived one street away from me in England when I was a wee lass? I am very sad to hear that she passed away
Thanks for this post. Anita was a shining light to the industry. RIP.
It’s so sad that she’s passed away! I’m a devoted Body Shop fan – I hope the company will keep on going with the same spirit that Anita brought to it.
Thanks for posting this when many others didn’t. I have looked up to Anita Roddick since high school and though I was disappointed by the sale to L’Oreal, it couldn’t tarnish my opinion of her. She cared about the environment and the worldwide community and promoted those ideals before it was common to do so. She was a pioneer and will be missed.
i didn’t know about this news and i am really sad to hear. Great eco-woman.
