After 30 years, the creative team of Dominique Moncourtois and Heidi Morawetz will pass the Make Up Creation baton to Creative Director Peter Phillips.

Two years ago, the duo began preparing for the transfer in Make Up Creation at CHANEL and Peter Philips, a graduate of Antwerp’s Académie des Beaux Arts, was chosen to join CHANEL as Creative Director – CHANEL Make Up. Peter has been working alongside Dominique Moncourtois and Heidi Morawetz for some time already, in order to ensure a smooth transition within the Make Up Studio, which he will head. [Chanel PR]

chanel-holiday-2007-lipsWhat does this mean for us? Maybe a younger, fresher view on beauty at Chanel – but quite honestly, Chanel is just about perfect – very beautiful and wearable makeup for any age. This is the must have (for me anyway) from the Holiday 2007 collection (forget I said the “h” word) – the 4 Camelias de Chanel Levres – a beautiful lip pallete in rose tones. I look forward to seeing how Chanel makeup evolves as Peter Phillips takes over. Maybe a turn towards fantasy? Or maybe just a smooth transition that will go unnoticed by all but the most Chanel obsessed? Stay tuned. :)

Let’s hope they don’t go too youthful. One of the rights of passage for the seriously fashion and good taste aware woman is the purchase of her first Chanel product! Let’s hope the dignity of the brand stays intact!
